Bishop Gibbons won a nail biter versus Mayfield 37-35 in what turned out to be a colossal showdown of Section 2 basketball teams. This meeting delivered the goods. Bishop Gibbons depended on their tenacious second half play as they led at the end of the the third quarter and at the last buzzer.

Bishop Gibbons held a modest 4-point edge going into the final frame. This battle of wills kept fans on the edge of their seats through the third quarter.

The opening two quarters were ultra competitive as the teams went to the first half locker room break with Bishop Gibbons out in front. The Golden Knights played well in the second quarter turning a 5-point first quarter deficit into a 5-point halftime lead.

Ava Megyeri led the Golden Knights with 14 points. Jailene Santiago added 10 points. Abigail Kienzle totaled 9 points.

Lindsey Hampton paced the Panthers with 13 points. Kelsey Meca secured 7 points. Brianna Hubiak collected 6 points. Katie LaGrange totaled 4 points.
The Panthers buried 4 hoops from deep.
