Chatham beat New Lebanon 63-47 in an early season Section 2 hoop match up. JayShawn Williams led the winners with 19 points.
Chatham had great energy right from the tip off and sprinted out to a decent first quarter lead 14-6. They put together a magnificent defensive effort and took control of the quarter. The Panthers used pressure defense to spark a 15-0 run, over a 7 minute span between the 1st and 2nd quarters, and opened up a sizable halftime advantage of 38-20. Chatham played well in the second period turning a 8-point first quarter lead into a 18-point halftime lead.
The Panthers used a tough hard-nosed effort in the third quarter and outscored New Lebanon by 13 points.
New Lebanon played well in the final quarter but time was clearly a factor. New Lebanon fought back in the 4th quarter behind a 21-0 run to cut the lead to 14 points, however that would be as close as they would get in the 2nd half.
The Panthers were in control at every quarter buzzer by margins of 8, 18, 31, & 16. They led by as many as 35 points during the game.
Chatham had a trio of players players in double figure scoring. JayShawn Williams paced Chatham with 19 points. Kaleb Taylor powered in 16 points. Keon Armstrong added 11 points.
Chatham splashed 5 baskets from downtown.
Clayton Erickson led the Tigers with 26 points. Cole Erickson netted 8 points.
The Tigers drained 7 trifectas.
Clayton Erickson made 6 three-pointers.
