In spite of an excellent game by Justice Brantley of Catskill, the Cats fell to Mohonasen 62-51 in the 52nd annual Kirvin Cup tournament at Mohonasen. Brantley scored a game high 30 points. Duncan Tallman paced Mohonasen with 23 points and was named tournament MVP.
The Mighty Warriors seemed focused right from the jump and started the game in style racing to a nice first quarter lead 17-5. They put together an extraordinary defensive effort and took control of the quarter. Yet, Catskill rallied in the second quarter and outscored Mohonasen by 10 points.
The two squads struggled to grab a foothold as the teams went to the first half break with Mohonasen nudging ahead.
The Mighty Warriors used a tough hard-nosed effort in the third quarter and outscored Catskill by 5 points.
The offenses clicked in the fourth quarter as they generated a high octane 40 points.
Mohonasen were in front at every period ending horn by margins of 12, 2, 7, & 11.
The Mighty Warriors had a trio of players players in double figure scoring. Duncan Tallman paced Mohonasen with 23 points. Shawn Gillisslee netted 14 points. Chase Monroe totaled 12 points. Drew Coelho finished with 8 points.
Duncan Tallman made 3 three-pointers.
