The Falcons suffered defeat to Niskayuna by 4 points 65-61, in what turned out to be a colossal test between the lines of Section 2 hoop squads. Ethan Gilson was a catalyst for the Silver Warriors with 22 points. The Silver Warriors favorable outcome hinged on their unwavering second half play as they led at the end of the third frame and at the final flip of the hourglass.
The Silver Warriors held a small 4-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter. This test of two ultra competitive teams was setting up for a monumental ending through the third frame.
Sparked by a great team effort in the second half Niskayuna outscored Albany 34-25 in the final two periods. That was contradictory to the first half when Albany built a 36-31 lead at the midway point.
The end result was still uncertain as the teams went to the first half breather with Albany ahead by a small margin.
The Silver Warriors came through with inspired basketball coming from the locker room, after they trailed at the half, which enabled them to commandeer the lead 52-48 going into the last quarter.
The Silver Warriors placed three players in double figure scoring. Ethan Gilson guided Niskayuna with 22 points. Sam Booth secured 16 points. Gavin Olsen collected 13 points. Daniel Smalls had 9 points.
The Silver Warriors connected on 10 trey balls.
