Mekeel Christian seized a down to the wire victory over Mohonasen 48-41 in a game that most local experts thought would be a true test right to the end. Avery Mills paced the Lions with 20 points.
Mekeel Christian seemed ready to go right from the jump and sprinted out to a hefty first quarter lead 13-7. They put together a magnificent defensive effort and took control of the quarter.
Mekeel Christian used a tough hard-nosed effort in the third quarter and outscored Mohonasen by 7 points.
Mohonasen played well in the final quarter but the seconds ticked away hurting any chance of a comeback.
The Lions managed to be ahead at every quarter buzzer by margins of 6, 6, 13, & 7.
Avery Mills led the Lions with 20 points. Madison Show poured in 15 points. Maraya Davis totaled 7 points. Jillian Ballard popped in 6 points.
Mekeel Christian drained 7 trifectas.
