Mayfield seized a down to the wire victory over Schoharie 41-38 in the championship game of the Mayfield girls holiday tournament.
Mayfield held a slight 1-point advantage heading into the second quarter.
The opening two quarters were ultra competitive as the teams went to the first half stoppage with Mayfield gaining the upper hand. Mayfield played sound basketball in the second quarter turning a 1-point first quarter lead into a 5-point halftime bulge.
The offenses fired on all cylinders in the fourth quarter as they generated a robust 28 points.
Mayfield were on top at every period ending horn by margins of 1, 5, 5, & 3.
Mayfield had a trio of players players in double figure scoring. Katie LaGrange paced the Panthers with 15 points. Lindsey Hampton registered 12 points. Kelsey Meca poured in 10 points.
