Mayfield fell to the Falcons by 10 points, 41-31.
Northville came up with a final stanza counterattack as they out-shot Mayfield 14-4 as regulation came to an end. Clutch play down the stretch was the key to the victory.
Mayfield bolted from opening whistle and took hold of the ball game on their way to a decent first quarter lead 12-4. They denied access to their hoop like a fortress and imposed their will in the quarter. Yet, Northville had a resurgence in the second quarter and outscored Mayfield by 6 points.
The contest was a toss up as the teams went to the first half intermission with Mayfield gaining the upper hand.
Both teams continued to battle through the third period all square at 27.
Evan Tamulaitis showed the way for the Falcons with 17 points. Jacob Frank collected 13 points. J.T. Artikuski totaled 9 points.
Trevor Ruberti sparked the offense for Mayfield with 12 points. Sean Foreman splashed in 6 points. Cameron Abdella knocked down 6 points. Michael Smigen had 4 points.
Mayfield drained 4 trey balls.
