The Red Raiders fell to the Black Horses by 4 points, 47-43, in a Class B sectional tilt. The Black Horses built upon their steady second half play as they led at the end of the third period and at the culminating stoppage. Schuylerville will play at #1 seed Albany Academy on February 22nd at 7:30 p.m.
Mechanicville bolted from opening whistle and rushed out to a decent first quarter lead 12-3. They used their extraordinary defensive prowess and were in the drivers seat throughout the period. Yet, The Black Horses recovered in the second quarter and outscored Mechanicville by 7 points.
The two squads struggled to grab a foothold as the teams went to the first half locker room break with Mechanicville gaining the upper hand.
The Black Horses put forth a team first approach that provided a spark out of intermission, in the wake of their first half deficit, and seized the opportunity 34-27 approaching the end of the final frame.
Lauren King showed the way for the Black Horses with 13 points. Grace Kilburn contributed 9 points. Macey Koval tallied 7 points. Anika Buff knocked down 7 points.
The Black Horses shot with sterling accuracy from the charity stripe as they prospered at 66.7%, 18 of 27.
