Bishop Gibbons won a cliff-hanger versus Seton Catholic 37-30 in the Class D Regional Final. The Golden Knights advance to the NYSPHSAA final four and take on Oxford Academy on Saturday 3/18, 10:45 a.m. at HVCC.
The Golden Knights manufactured a great group effort with a late push as they out-shot the Knights 18-9 as regulation came to an end. They survived this tough encounter.
Bishop Gibbons won a cliff-hanger versus Seton Catholic 37-30 in the Class D Regional Final. The Golden Knights advance to the NYSPHSAA final four and take on Oxford Academy on Saturday 3/18, 10:45 a.m. at HVCC.
The Golden Knights manufactured a great group effort with a late push as they out-shot the Knights 18-9 as regulation came to an end. They survived this tough encounter.
The Knights held a small 2-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter. This encounter on the hardwood entertained the crowd through the third frame.
Both teams scratched and clawed to score the ball in the opening quarter as they combined for only 7 points. But, The Golden Knights bolted from opening whistle and darted in front to gain a generous first quarter lead 7-0. They denied access to their hoop like a fortress and imposed their will in the quarter. Yet, Seton Catholic rallied in the second quarter and outscored Bishop Gibbons by 8 points.
The two squads struggled to grab a foothold as the teams went to the first half stoppage with Seton Catholic nudging ahead.
Seton Catholic performed effectively in the second period turning a 7-point first quarter deficit into a 1-point halftime upper hand.
Mia Rose Wylie showed the way for Bishop Gibbons with 11 points. Angelina Dietz contributed 9 points. Autumn Davis tallied 7 points.
The Golden Knights produced 4 trifectas.
Abby Pearl helped the cause for the Knights with 9 points. Gabriella Conti powered in 7 points. Charlotte Hughes added 6 points. Grace Trombley bagged 6 points.
