Hoosick Falls won a nail biter versus Schenectady 60-53 in a high caliber non-league game. Logan Thayne paced the winners with 30 points. The Panthers depended on their consistent second half play as they led at the end of the third quarter and at the final horn.
Hoosick Falls held a small 3-point lead going into the final frame. This duel was headed towards an epic finish through the third quarter. The contest featured 11 lead changes through 3 quarters, Hoosick Falls used a critical 18-2 late 2nd half run to go from down 4 points to up 12 points in the 4th quarter. The Panthers made some free throws down the stretch and went on to win 60-53 over the Patriots.
Both teams scratched and clawed to score the ball in the opening quarter as they combined for just 18 points. But, The Panthers had great energy right from the tip off and sprinted out to a decent first quarter lead 12-6. They put together a lock down defense and took control of the quarter. Yet, The Patriots rallied in the second quarter and outscored Hoosick Falls by 10 points.
The outcome was still in limbo as the teams went to the first half intermission with Schenectady nosing in front.
The Patriots played as a complete unit in the second quarter turning a 6-point first quarter deficit into a 4-point halftime bulge.
Hoosick Falls exhibited great effort out of the break, after they trailed at the half, and snatched the lead 41-38 going into the final frame.
Logan Thayne led the Panthers with 30 points. Lillian Hickey powered in 8 points. Madeline Walker netted 7 points. Sophie Estes tallied 7 points.
Talia Washington paced the Patriots with 21 points. La Neira Armbrester netted 14 points. Janessa Jones dropped 7 points. Elizabeth Tchako-Tchuambe sank 6 points.
