Waterford won close contest over Hoosick Falls 49-42. Rachel McOmber guided the Fordians with 18 points. Waterford rode the coattails of their tenacious second half play as they led at the end of the third frame and at the game ending stoppage.
Focused play in the second half helped as the Fordians outscored Hoosick Falls 32-18 in the final two quarters. That was the inverse of the first half when Hoosick Falls scurried out to a 24-17 lead at the midway point.
Both teams scratched and clawed to score the ball in the opening quarter as they combined for a scant 14 points. But, Waterford stormed out of the locker room and sprinted out to a nice first quarter lead 10-4. Yet, The Panthers bounced back in the second quarter and outscored Waterford by 13 points.
Hoosick Falls performed well in the second stanza turning a 6-point first quarter deficit into a 7-point halftime bulge.
