Stillwater won a cliff-hanger versus Mechanicville 65-64 in a high caliber Wasaren League tug-of-war. Kaelan Leak and Jaxon Mueller combined to score 42 points for the winners.
Stillwater used an impressive first eight minutes and took hold of the ball game on their way to a significant first quarter lead 23-16. Yet, Mechanicville perked up in the second quarter and outscored Stillwater by 6 points.
The coronation of a winner was still unresolved as the teams went to the first half recess with Stillwater gaining the upper hand.
Stillwater played with purpose in the third quarter and outscored Mechanicville by 6 points.
Mechanicville dug in and fought back in the final quarter but the seconds ticked away hurting any chance of a comeback.
The Warriors were in command at every period ending horn by splits of (+) 7, 1, 7, & 1.
Stillwater had a trio of players in double figure scoring. Kaelan Leak was an offensive spark plug for the Warriors with 22 points. Jaxon Mueller registered 20 points. Lukas Lilac finished with 11 points.
