Mechanicville seized a down to the wire victory over Voorheesville 63-62. Colin Richardson put forth a strong offensive game for the Red Raiders with 22 points.
Mechanicville seized a down to the wire victory over Voorheesville 63-62. Colin Richardson put forth a strong offensive game for the Red Raiders with 22 points.
Mechanicville trailed 62-57 with under a minute to play.
After a Colin Richardson layup made the score 62-59, Mechanicville stole an
inbound pass and Richardson again scored with 0:15 left to cut the
Voorheesville lead to one at 62-61. Voorheesville was fouled with 0:14 left, and
missed both free throws of a bonus, but the Blackbirds were able to force a
jump ball and retain possession after the second FT miss.
On the ensuing
inbound pass with 0:10 remaining, Cruz Goverski stole the ball and saved it to
Logan Starks who converted the game-winning layup with 0:06 left. Voorheesville
missed a runner with 0:02 left and the follow was off the mark at the buzzer,
allowing Mechanicville to survive on Senior Night.
