The Cannoneers were cut down versus Maple Hill 40-39, in a semi-final contest of the Patroon Conference Championships. The Wildcats advance to play Hudson at Columbia Greene Community College on Monday night. This game was part of the Coaches vs. Cancer event the league is having for their end of year finals.
Watervliet held a slight 2-point advantage heading into the second quarter.
Maple Hill performed well in the second quarter turning a 2-point first quarter deficit into a 6-point halftime advantage.
The Wildcats were benefitted by a robust performance in the third quarter and outscored Watervliet by 5 points.
Watervliet clawed back in the final quarter but Maple Hill hung on for the win.
Nick Novak was an offensive catalyst for Maple Hill with 14 points. Brady Cole powered in 12 points. Luca Flach knocked down 7 points.
Maple Hill shot excellent from the stripe as they made good on 73.3%, 11 of 15.
