Warrensburg slipped past Waterford 51-41 in a Class C sectional contest. Eliana York played expectionally well on the attacking side of the floor for the Burghers leading the way with 20 points. The Burghers advance to the quartefinal round to take on #5 seed Maple Hill on 2/22.
Warrensburg manufactured a great group effort with a late push as they out-shot the Fordians 21-9 as the clock struck midnight. That fourth quarter burst enabled them to celebrate the outcome.
Warrensburg slipped past Waterford 51-41 in a Class C sectional contest. Eliana York played expectionally well on the attacking side of the floor for the Burghers leading the way with 20 points. The Burghers advance to the quartefinal round to take on #5 seed Maple Hill on 2/22.
Warrensburg manufactured a great group effort with a late push as they out-shot the Fordians 21-9 as the clock struck midnight. That fourth quarter burst enabled them to celebrate the outcome.
The Fordians held a slim 2-point margin heading into the fourth period.
Offensive and defensive adjustments in the latter part of the game were a key as Warrensburg outscored the Fordians 37-19 in the final sixteen minutes. That was the opposite of the first half when the Fordians darted out to a 22-14 lead at the midway point.
Both teams scratched and clawed to score the ball in the opening quarter as they combined for merely 13 points. But, The Fordians were strong out of the gate on their way to a decent first quarter lead 10-3.
Warrensburg maximized their play in the third quarter and outscored Waterford by 6 points.
The Burghers had three shooting stars in double figure scoring. Eliana York guided Warrensburg with 20 points. Hope Sherman poured in 16 points. Madison Goodspeed totaled 10 points.
Rachel McOmber was an offensive spark plug for the Fordians with 13 points. Maddy Atwood racked up 12 points. Piper Morris finished with 5 points. Samara Roberts bagged 5 points. Emma Sheehan popped in 5 points.
