Maple Hill hung on vs. Hoosic Valley 70-61 in what turned out to be a mammoth clash of Section 2 Class C hoop teams in the Maple Hill Holiday Tournament final. Rian Jewett and Blake Decker combined to score 40 points for the victors.
The Wildcats held a slim 4-point margin heading into the fourth quarter. This duel was headed towards an epic finish through the third frame and had "a sectional feel to it" according to Coach Alex Lilac of Hoosic Valley.
Maple Hill used an impressive first eight minutes and darted in front to gain a decent first quarter lead 17-10.
Hoosic Valley produced a rally in the second half but they came up short.

Hoosic Valley's Tyler Eddy sank a free throw with 30 seconds left to send the game to overtime after his team was down double digits earlier in the game. With the teams tied at the end of regulation Maple Hill went past Hoosic Valley 12-3 in the shortened extra period. Rian Jewett, Domonic Hirschoff and Blake Decker all scored four points each in (OT).
