Warrensburg escaped with a victory over Mayfield 47-39 in one of the top games in Section 2 basketball. This meeting delivered the goods. Abigail Ranous led the Burghers with 19 points.
Warrensburg held a slight 4-point advantage at the start of the fourth quarter. This grudge match entertained the crowd through the third quarter.
The Burghers held a slim 1-point margin heading into the second quarter. Warrensburg jumped out to a comfortable margin at the break 26-15.
Warrensburg played well in the second frame turning a 1-point first quarter lead into a 11-point halftime edge.
Mayfield used a tough hard-nosed effort in the third quarter and outscored Warrensburg by 7 points.
