Schalmont held off Mechanicville 53-46 in the Class B sectional final. Shane O'Dell led the victors with 22 points.
Schalmont had great energy right from the tip off and sprinted out to a nice first quarter lead 20-8.
The Sabres raced ahead after two quarters 26-10. Schalmont played sound basketball in the second quarter turning a 12-point first quarter lead into a 16-point halftime bulge.
The Red Raiders used a tough hard-nosed effort in the third quarter and outscored Schalmont by 8 points.

The offenses caught fire in the fourth quarter as they generated a robust 39 points. Mechanicville cut a once double digit deficit to four points late in the fourth quarter but couldn't get any closer than that.
Schalmont were in control at every quarter buzzer by margins of 12, 16, 8, & 7.
Shane O'Dell paced Schalmont with 22 points. Jake Sanford scored 13 points. Austin Redmond added 8 points. Trent Randle totaled 8 points.
The Sabres connected on 5 baskets from downtown.
