The Golden Eagles fell to Northville by 11 points, 44-33, in a first-rate Section 2 basketball run-in. Kerrigan Groff paced the winners with 25 points. Northville rode the coattails of their solid second half play as they led at the end of the the third period and at the final tick of the clock.
Northville held a small 3-point lead going into the final frame. This grudge match kept fans on the edge of their seats through the third period.
The Falcons ended the contest with authority as they outscored Galway by 8-points at the critical stage of the game.
Focused play in the second half helped as Northville outscored Galway 28-12 in the final two periods. That was contradictory to the first half when Galway sprinted out to a 21-16 lead at the midway point.
Northville held a small 1-point lead heading into the second quarter.
The outcome was still in limbo as the teams went to the first half intermission with Galway nudging ahead.
Galway played as a complete unit in the second period turning a 1-point first quarter deficit into a 5-point halftime bulge.
Northville came through with inspired basketball out of the break, after they trailed at the half, and snatched the lead 32-29 going into the final quarter.
