Defense reigned supreme in the 2nd quarter as the teams scored only 16 points.

The contest was a toss up as the teams went to the first half recess with Averill Park gaining the upper hand. Averill Park played solid as a rock in the second stanza turning a 4-point first quarter deficit into a 4-point halftime edge.

The Spartans put forth a team first approach that provided a spark out of the break, in the wake of their first half deficit, which helped them capture the lead 33-30 moving on to the fourth period.
