Averill Park seized a down to the wire victory over Guilderland 55-50 in a game that most local high school basketball followers imagined would come down to the final buzzer.

As both teams refused to go away quietly the game went to overtime where The Warriors outperformed Guilderland 13-8. That burst enabled them to celebrate the outcome.

Both teams scratched and clawed to score the ball in the opening quarter as they combined for merely 13 points.
Averill Park held a small 1-point lead going into the second frame.

The contest was a toss up as the teams went to the first half stoppage with Averill Park out in front.

The Dutchmen put forth a team first approach that provided a spark out of intermission, which enabled them to commandeer the lead 30-24 heading towards the fourth period. However, Averill Park rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force the extra session.

Ben Romer paced Averill Park with 14 points. Vinny Carucci netted 8 points. Nick Clemenzi had 8 points. Mike Sullivan finished with 7 points.
The Warriors produced 5 hoops from deep.

Mitch MacKissock led the Dutchmen with 18 points. Willem Feeney powered in 12 points. Liam Teague added 9 points. Pat Bruno dropped 9 points.

Guilderland shot with first-rate accuracy from the charity stripe as they produced 85%, 17 of 20.
