Averill Park won an instant classic versus Guilderland 44-41 in a contest that most local experts expected to come down to the final buzzer.

Thirty-two minutes wasn't enough as the contest went to overtime where The Warriors overtook Guilderland 8-5. That run iced the game.

Vinny Carucci of Averill Park made three free throws with 1.6 seconds left in regulation to force the extra session.

Spurned on by a first-class performance in the second half the Warriors outscored Guilderland 27-18 in the final two periods and (OT). That was reverse of the first half when Guilderland darted out to a 23-17 lead at the midway point.

The Dutchmen seemed dialed in right from the jump and sprinted out to a hefty first quarter lead 17-9.

Both teams struggled to score the ball coming out of the locker room after the half as they combined for just 12 points.

Ben Romer led the Warriors with 17 points. Nicholas Galuski added 9 points. Nick Clemenzi scored 7 points. Vinny Carucci popped in 7 points.
The Warriors used expert marksmanship to make 5 trifectas.
Ben Romer made 3 three-pointers.

Willem Feeney paced Guilderland with 12 points. Mitch MacKissock registered 10 points. Pat Bruno finished with 9 points.
The Dutchmen connected on 5 trey balls.
