Canajoharie outlasted Mayfield 54-49 in a long awaited tilt in Section 2 basketball. Both teams left it all on the court. Canajoharie success was built on their consistent second half play as they led at the end of the third quarter and at the game ending horn.
Canajoharie held a modest 3-point edge heading into the fourth quarter. This grudge match entertained the fans watching from home through the third quarter.
Canajoharie used an impressive first eight minutes and darted in front to gain a decent first quarter lead 15-8. Yet, The Panthers rallied in the second quarter and outscored Canajoharie by 9 points.
The opening two quarters were ultra competitive as the teams went to the first half stoppage with Mayfield out in front.
Mayfield performed well in the second quarter turning a 7-point first quarter deficit into a 2-point halftime bulge.
