Duanesburg won a cliff-hanger versus Middleburgh 79-72. Matthew Coons and Bryce Burkhardt combined to score 43 points for the victors. Duanesburg built on their unwavering second half play as they led at the end of the third period and at the final horn.
The Eagles held a small 1-point lead going into the final frame. This grudge match was headed towards an epic finish through the third period. Duanesburg closed out the contest in splendid fashion as they outscored Middleburgh by 6-points in crunch time.
The Knights had great energy right from the tip off and played excellent team basketball on their way to a decent first quarter lead 31-22. Andrew Johns of Middleburgh had 20 points in the opening frame. Yet, Duanesburg regrouped in the second quarter and outscored Middleburgh by 5 points.
The contest was a toss up as the teams went to the first half stoppage with Middleburgh out in front.
Duanesburg put forth a team first approach that provided a spark out of the break, after being behind at the half, and snatched the lead 59-58 bearing down on the last quarter.
Duanesburg had a foursome in double figure scoring. Matthew Coons led Duanesburg with career highs of 25 points and 16 rebounds. Bryce Burkhardt netted 18 points. Peyton Fall dropped 16 points. Michael Leak accumulated 14 points.
