Mekeel Christian squeaked by Heatly 49-40. Promise Mitchell played expectionally well on the attacking side of the floor for the Lions leading the way with 20 points. The Lions success was built on their solid second half play as they led at the end of the third period and at the final horn.
Mekeel Christian held a small 4-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. This no holds barred match up felt like a clash of the titans through the third period.
Mekeel Christian ended the game with clutch play as they went past Heatly by 5-points in crunch time.
The Lions were strong out of the gate and started the game in style racing to a decent first quarter lead 14-8. Yet, The Hornets rallied in the second quarter and outscored Mekeel Christian by 7 points.
The contest was a toss up as the teams went to the first half recess with Heatly nudging ahead. Heatly performed well in the second period turning a 6-point first quarter deficit into a 1-point halftime edge.
The Lions exhibited great effort out of the locker room, after being behind at the half, and snatched the lead 36-32 going into the final quarter.
Promise Mitchell led the Lions with 20 points. Alanah Barnhill collected 16 points.
