Shenendehowa seized a down to the wire victory over Averill Park 68-67 in a game that most area coaches thought would come down to the final buzzer. Sangare led the victors with 18 points. Zack Price hit a 3 with 20 seconds left in regulation to send the game into OT.
The teams then needed more time to achieve their desired result as Jake Reinisch made a three pointer at the buzzer of the first OT to send it to double OT. The Plainsmen outscored Averill Park 15-14 over the course of the two extra periods to win this Suburban Council game.
The Warriors used a fourth quarter counterattack getting the better of Shenendehowa 16-4 to give the fans some free basketball.
Shenendehowa and Averill Park were all square after one period of play.
Shenendehowa played sound basketball in the second quarter turning a tied game into a 6-point halftime edge.
The Plainsmen used a tough hard-nosed effort in the third quarter and outscored Averill Park by 6 points.
The Plainsmen placed four players in double figure scoring. Sangare paced Shenendehowa with 18 points. Dzikas racked up 16 points. Reinisch poured in 12 points. Altenburger totaled 11 points.
The Plainsmen drained 10 trifectas.
