Fort Edward slipped past Argyle 62-56 in what turned out to be a tremendous clash of Section 2 basketball teams. Thirty-two minutes wasn't enough as the match-up went to overtime where Fort Edward outscored Argyle 13-7. That spurt ultimately sealed the win.
Fort Edward came up with a final stanza surge as they bested Argyle 17-12 to give the fans some free basketball.
Argyle seemed ready to go right from the jump and sprinted out to a decent first quarter lead 15-9. Yet, Fort Edward rallied in the second quarter and outscored Argyle by 6 points.
The outcome was still in limbo as the teams went to the first half intermission with the game tied 22-22.
The Scots came through with inspired basketball out of the break, after being level at the half, and grabbed an advantage of 37-32 going into the final quarter.
James Bombard led Fort Edward with 15 points. Logan Catone added 12 points. James Gross totaled 9 points. Logan Gillis sank 7 points.
The Flying Forts drilled 8 hoops from long range.
Logan Catone made 3 three-pointers.
Argyle had a trio of players players in double figure scoring. Peyton Lufkin paced Argyle with 30 points. Gabe Wood scored 12 points. Caide Flanders netted 10 points.
The Scots drained 6 hoops from deep.
