Mayfield nosed past Galway 57-44 in a high energy Section 2 basketball battle. Garrett Delaney led the victors with 23 points. The Panthers rode the coattails of their tenacious second half play as they led at the end of the the third frame and at the final buzzer.
Galway held a modest 2-point edge at the start of the second quarter. The Panthers played as a complete unit in the second quarter turning a 2-point first quarter deficit into a 8-point halftime lead.
Garrett Delaney paced Mayfield with 23 points. Evan Lehr added 17 points. Trevon Gifford scored 9 points. Daniel Leach popped in 7 points.
