Averill Park grabbed a win over their crosstown rival Columbia, 50-48, to take home the championship of the 9th Annual Tip Off Tournament. Kayleigh Ahern led the Warriors with 16 points including the game winning three pointer with twenty nine seconds left in the contest. Tournament MVP Arianna Veradi netted 14 points and Addison Alvey knocked down 11 points.

Neither team had a lead of more than five points throughout the game. Columbia ran out to a 13-10 lead after one period. The game was tied at the half at 21-21. Averill Park took a 36-32 edge into the final quarter.

Columbia was led by Sarah Rainville's 19 points. Kendyl Ouimette added 14 points. Blue Devil standout Alivia Landy fouled out midway through the fourth quarter after being in early foul trouble.

(Albany)

 

Albany Academy raced out to a double digit first quarter lead on their way to knocking off Green Tech, 57-41, in a matchup of two of the top boys teams in the area.

The Cadets led 21-8 after one period and 34-22 at the half. The were paced in scoring by Ras Elijah Godbolt's 18 points. Cyrus Matia added 12 points and Jack Louridas 11 points.

Green Tech gained some traction in the second half after trailing by double digits early on. Ramere Brown and Olivan Owens had 12 points each for the Eagles. Indavier Barnes chipped in with 9 points.

(Averill Park)

Averill Park won a tense battle against Shenendehowa 51-50 in contest between the top two teams in the Section2basketball.com rankings. Amelia Wood played expectionally well on the attacking side of the floor for the winners going off for 18 points. She also sealed the victory with a steal as time expired in the contest.

The Warriors jumped out to a 19-14 lead after one period. They built their lead up to twelve points, 30-18, with just under four minutes left in the first half. Shenendehowa fought back and cut the deficit to eight points at the half, 32-24, after a Kaleigh Montanez bucket right before the haltime buzzer.
 
Shen made up more ground in the third quarter cutting into the lead and trailing by five points, 37-42, after three quarters. They closed the frame on a 7-1 run after trailing by eleven points mid-way through the third period, 41-30.
 
The Warriors extended their lead nine points at the start of the final quarter but once again the Plainsmen dug in on the defensive end and cut the margin to one point, 51-50, with less than thirty seconds left. After a timeout Averill Park had a couple of chances to extend the lead but couldn't get the ball to drop and the Plainsmen regained possession. Shenendehowa had one last chance to go ahead with less then eight seconds left on the clock, however Amelia Wood stole a pass and the clock ran out.

Averill Park were in command at every period closing whistle by plus 5, 8, 5, & 1.
 
Shenendehowa put together a comeback attempt in the second half but the Warriors hung on.

Amelia Wood took control of the offense for Averill Park with 18 points. Taylor Holohan poured in 13 points. Michelina Lombardi had 9 points.
Averill Park shot great from the charity stripe as they produced 81.3%, 13 of 16.

Jillian Huerter paced the Plainsmen with 18 points. Kaleigh Montanez registered 11 points. Bri Carey accounted for 9 points.
The Plainsmen splashed 8 trifectas.
