Shaker used a strong third quarter to pull away from Niskayuna in a battle of contenders in the Suburban Council.
The Blue Bison were ready from the jump as they ran out to a quick 9-0 lead and a 15-9 advantage after the first period.
After trailing 17-9 early in the second quarter Niskayuna generated a 10-0 run to grab a two point lead after Brady Olsen steal and dunk. The Silver Warriors extended their lead to 28-21 before Shaker closed the half on a 7-2 run. Niskayuna led 30-28 at the break. Poem Staten scored eight points in the quarter for the Silver Warriors.
Melvin Brown helped Shaker open up the third quarter on a 15-3 run as they grabbed double digit lead. Brown scored an eye popping 20 points in the quarter and the Blue Bison led 53-44 heading into the final period.
Niskayuna trailed by double digits in the final frame but a Jake McDonald three pointer cut their deficit to five points with 1:45 remaining. Shaker was up to the challenge as they made their free throws and secured the victory.
Melvin Brown led all scorers with 29 points, Marcelin Mukendi added 18 points, Bless Demand netted 16 points for the Blue Bison.
Ethan Gilson had 21 points for Niskayuna, Daniel Smalls 14 points, and Poem Staten chipped in with 12 points.

Averill Park were charged up from the opening whistle and bolted out to an ample first quarter lead 16-10. The Warriors got back to back three pointers from Amelia Wood and Kayleigh Ahern, in the last minute of the quarter, giving them some breathing room.
Averill Park maximized their play in the third quarter and outscored Burnt Hills by seven points which enabled them to stretch their halftime lead of eight points to fifteen.
The Warriors were in control at all quarter stoppage by separations of 6, 8, 15, & 15.
Taylor Holohan led Averill Park with 21 points and was named the MVP of the Class A tournament. Amelia Wood netted 19 points. Arianna Verardi tallied 8 points.
Averill Park produced 4 buckets from beyond the arc.
The Warriors shot excellent from the charity stripe as they made 76%, 19 of 25.

Stillwater used a fourth quarter comeback as they out-scored the Wildcats 19-11 by the conclusion of the frame.
The end result was still uncertain as the teams went to the first half locker room break with Maple Hill nosing in front.
Stillwater had a trio of players in double figure scoring. C.J. Mcneil paced the Warriors with 19 points. Lukas Lilac poured in 17 points. Jaxon Mueller connected on 10 points.
The Warriors made 4 baskets from downtown.
Brady Cole helped the cause for the Wildcats with 16 points. Benjamin Marra registered 13 points. Landon Flach collected 8 points. Luke Hoffman tallied 8 points.

Albany Academy cruised to a 74-50 win over Rice Memorial (VT) on Senior day.
The Cadets were on fire from three point range in the opening quarter nailing five of them on their way to a 28-10 lead. (Josiah Hyman 2, Ras Elijah Godbolt 2, Jack Louridas 1)
Rice Memorial won the second quarter 15-14 but trailed 42-25 at the half.
Albany Academy extended their lead to 62-39 after three quarters.
Ras Elijah Godbolt scored 27 points for the Cadets, Jack Louridas 16 points, and Josiah Hyman 12 points.
Owen Eaton paced Rice Memorial with 21 points, Evan Eaton chipped in with 14 points.

Shaker pulled away in the second half to secure a 63-55 road victory over Columbia on Tuesday night in a Suburban Council girls' basketball showdown.
The Blue Bison used a 24-18 third quarter advantage to create separation after leading by just three at halftime. Columbia fought back in the fourth quarter after trailing by double digits, to cut the lead to four points, but wouldn't get any closer.
Sofia Lanni led Shaker with 17 points, Jayla Geter 15 points, with Geter knocking down three three-pointers. Malia Jackson added 14 points.
Columbia kept the game close behind Kendyl Ouimette’s 20 points. Sarah Rainville chipped in 16 points, while Alivia Landy contributed 15.
The game was called extremely tight by the officials as it ended with 59 total free throw attempts. (Shaker 31, Columbia 28)
The quick whistles slowed down the flow of the contest between these two athletic squads.
