Albany won a thriller against Shaker 45-40 to advance to the Class AA title game vs Shen on Saturday at HVCC. Azera Gates was the MVP on offense for the winners leading the way with 21 points.

Albany were dialed in right from the jump and sprinted out to a significant first quarter lead 16-5. They relied on their stout defense and imposed their will in the quarter.

Both teams struggled to score the ball coming out of the locker room after the half as they combined for barely 13 points in the third quarter.
 
Shaker who trailed by as many as thirteen points in the first half used a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to cut their deficit to one point after a Kaelah Carter bucket with just under four minutes left in the game. However, Albany scored the next five points to help them seal the wire to wire victory.

The Falcons were on top at all period ending horn by separations of 11, 9, 6, & 5.

The Blue Bison put together a comeback attempt in the second half but they came up short.

Azera Gates helped the cause for Albany with 21 points. Shonyae Edmonds powered in 7 points. MeChalle Cancer added 6 points.
Albany produced 5 hoops from long range.
 
Kaelah Carter paced Shaker with 17 points. Emily Satterday contributed 11 points.

Shen took the victory in a workman like manner vs. Colonie, 53-39, in a hard fought Class AA semi-final game. Kaleigh Montanez played expectionally well on the attacking side of the floor for the Plainsmen popping in 24 points. The Plainsmen built on their unwavering second half play as they led at the end of the third period and at the closing tick of the clock.

Shen now moves on to play Albany in the championship game on Saturday at HVCC.

Colonie held a modest 1-point edge at the start of the second quarter.

Shen produced as a complete unit in the second stanza turning a 1-point first quarter deficit into a 6-point halftime edge. 
 
The Plainsmen struck while the iron was hot, taking advantage of a cold spell by the Garnet Raiders, with a determined performance in the thid period and led 36-24 headed to the fourth quarter.

The offenses clicked in the fourth quarter as they generated a plethora of shot making skills 32 points.

Kaleigh Montanez led Shen with 24 points. Jillian Huerter contributed 11 points. Grace Almeida scored 6 points.
The Plainsmen produced 8 baskets from long distance.
Kaleigh Montanez made 5 three-pointers.

Ava Pearson put forth a strong offensive game for the Garnet Raiders with 13 points. Gabby Martin got in the book with 10 points. Macie Trimarchi poured in 8 points. Bella Franchi totaled 6 points.
The Garnet Raiders buried 5 baskets from downtown.
Ava Pearson nailed 3 three-pointers.

Schalmont coasted to victory over Fonda 73-35 in the Class B final. Karissa Antoine and Haley Burchhardt combined to score 47 points for the winners. The Sabres advance on to play in the NYSPHSAA playoffs.

The Lady Braves were outscored 44-14 at the half. Schalmont played sound basketball in the second period turning a 5-point first quarter lead into a 30-point halftime edge. They used a 24-0 run to break open the game.

Schalmont capitalized on gritty play in the third quarter and outscored Fonda by 12 points.

The Sabres were in control at each period closing whistle by plus 5, 30, 42, & 38.

Schalmont had a triplet in double figure scoring. Karissa Antoine paced the Sabres with 24 points. Haley Burchhardt knocked down 23 points. Payton Graber tallied 15 points and was named the MVP of the Class B tournament.
The Sabres knocked down 10 buckets from long range.
Haley Burchhardt made 5 three-pointers. Payton Graber added 3.

Kieonna Christmas was the offensive catalyst for the Lady Braves leading the way with 19 points. Quincy Lake got in the book with 6 points. Kyla Smith collected 5 points. Carly Atty scored 5 points.

Duanesburg prevailed over Greenwich 64-47 in the Class C title game. Allison O Hanlon and Madison Meyer teamed up to score 45 points for the victors. The Eagles now move on to NYSPHSAA regional play.

Duanesburg were dialed in right from the jump and played excellent team basketball on their way to a significant first quarter lead 17-7. They used their extraordinary defensive prowess and grabbed control of the frame.

The Eagles raced ahead after two quarters 32-16.

Duanesburg managed to be ahead at each period closing whistle by advantages of 10, 16, 18, & 17.

Duanesburg had a trio of players in double figure scoring. Allison O Hanlon led Duanesburg with 26 points. Madison Meyer knocked down 19 points and was named the Class C tournament MVP. Alex Moses connected on 10 points.
Allison O Hanlon made 3 three-pointers.
Duanesburg shot outstanding from the charity stripe as they made 73.7%, 14 of 19.

Greenwich had three players in double figure scoring. Brooke Kuzmich put forth a strong offensive game for Greenwich with 16 points. Norah Niesz got in the book with 14 points. Cate Abate accounted for 10 points. Grace Autiello totaled 6 points.

Averill Park defeated Burnt Hills 61-46 to capture their 8th straight Section 2 title. Taylor Holohan and Amelia Wood scored 40 points total for the victors. The Warriors continue on to state regional play next week.

Averill Park were charged up from the opening whistle and bolted out to an ample first quarter lead 16-10. The Warriors got back to back three pointers from Amelia Wood and Kayleigh Ahern, in the last minute of the quarter, giving them some breathing room.

Averill Park maximized their play in the third quarter and outscored Burnt Hills by seven points which enabled them to stretch their halftime lead of eight points to fifteen.

The Warriors were in control at all quarter stoppage by separations of 6, 8, 15, & 15.

Taylor Holohan led Averill Park with 21 points and was named the MVP of the Class A tournament. Amelia Wood netted 19 points. Arianna Verardi tallied 8 points.
Averill Park produced 4 buckets from beyond the arc.
The Warriors shot excellent from the charity stripe as they made 76%, 19 of 25.

Carlie Rzeszotarski put forth a strong offensive game for Burnt Hills with 19 points. Ella Blesi secured 12 points.
