(Troy)

Niskayuna secured a 52-41 victory over Hudson Falls in a non-league matchup during the Coaches vs. Cancer event at Hudson Valley Community College.

The Silver Warriors established a substantial halftime lead of 29-16, showcasing a cohesive team effort in the second quarter, turning a 5-point first-quarter advantage into a commanding 13-point halftime upper hand.

Despite Hudson Falls narrowing the gap in the final quarter, they faced an uphill battle against the scoreboard. Niskayuna maintained control at each period-ending horn with advantages of 5, 13, 17, and 11 points.

Brady Olsen led the offensive charge for the Silver Warriors with 16 points, while Daniel Smalls contributed 12 points, and Gavin Olsen added 10 points. Garrett Gillooley rounded out the scoring with 6 points. Niskayuna displayed proficiency from beyond the arc, knocking down 5 three-pointers.

For Hudson Falls, Jayden Hardwick ignited the offense with 13 points, and Jaymison Eisenhardt contributed 11 points. Evan France collected 6 points, while the Tigers connected on 5 baskets from behind the arc, with Jaymison Eisenhardt sinking 3 three-pointers.

🏀 SECTION 2 BOYS — WEEKLY CLASS BLURBS

🔵 Boys Class AAA

CBA and Shaker continue to separate themselves at the top of the Class AAA ratings, with both teams rating well above the class mean. Shenendehowa remains the closest challenger, while the rest of the field faces a clear uphill climb against the top tier. Barring matchup chaos, the championship picture remains concentrated at the top.

🔵 Boys Class AA

Niskayuna holds the top rating in Class AA, but the margin behind them remains slim. Amsterdam, Columbia, Bethlehem, and Troy form a tightly packed contender group, keeping the class highly competitive. With minimal separation among the top five teams, semifinal matchups are likely to determine the eventual champion.

🔵 Boys Class A

Hudson continues to rate as the clear leader in Class A, with Lansingburgh maintaining separation from the rest of the field. Glens Falls, Watervliet, and Averill Park remain firmly in the contender tier, capable of capitalizing on favorable matchups. The depth of the class suggests limited early-round surprises, but increasing volatility as the bracket tightens.

🔵 Boys Class B

Class B remains the most volatile bracket in Section 2. KIPP Charter, Catskill, and Tamarac currently rate at the top, but a deep middle tier keeps upset probability high throughout the postseason. Matchups and momentum are expected to outweigh seed position, particularly in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.

🔵 Boys Class C

Berne-Knox-Westerlo leads a top-heavy Class C field, joined by Saratoga Catholic and Stillwater in the elite tier. Below them, a wide middle group creates potential for competitive early-round games, but the rating gaps suggest the title race remains concentrated among the top teams.

🔵 Boys Class D

Northville and North Warren continue to rate above the rest of the Class D field, forming a clear top tier. Fort Ann and Germantown remain the most viable challengers, while the remainder of the bracket faces significant rating gaps. Early-round execution will be critical for any upset attempts.

🏀 SECTION 2 GIRLS — WEEKLY CLASS BLURBS

🔵 Girls Class AAA

Shaker remains the clear standard in Class AAA, rating more than a full standard deviation above the class mean. Colonie and Shenendehowa continue to track as the primary challengers, while the rest of the field sits well behind the top tier. The path to the title runs directly through Shaker.

🔵 Girls Class AA

Columbia and Troy sit atop the Class AA ratings, forming a narrow elite tier. Bethlehem, Ballston Spa, and Burnt Hills remain within striking distance, keeping the class highly competitive. With several teams clustered near the mean, matchup-specific advantages are expected to play a major role in postseason outcomes.

🔵 Girls Class A

Albany Academy leads Class A with a significant rating advantage, while Glens Falls maintains separation as the primary challenger. A deep contender tier follows, creating strong upset potential in the middle of the bracket. The class projects as one of the more competitive fields entering postseason play.

🔵 Girls Class B

Mechanicville, Coxsackie-Athens, and Corinth currently form the top tier in Class B, but the rating distribution suggests a highly fluid bracket. With several teams clustered closely behind, Class B continues to project as one of the most upset-prone classifications in Section 2.

🔵 Girls Class C

Greenwich, Stillwater, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo rate clearly above the rest of the Class C field. While the contender tier provides depth, the rating gaps indicate the championship race is likely to stay within the elite group unless significant variance intervenes.

🔵 Girls Class D

Northville and Saratoga Catholic remain the highest-rated teams in Class D, creating a clear separation at the top of the bracket. Hartford, Argyle, and Duanesburg profile as the most likely challengers, though rating gaps suggest limited margin for error against the elite tier.
