Mekeel Christian advances to Class C title game.

-Mekeel Christian rallied from 8 points down in the 2nd half and held off Greenville 51-49, in a game that featured 15 lead changes. The Lions advance to Friday night's Class C Sectional Championship game vs Cambridge at 6 p.m. at Hudson Valley Community College.
-Both teams started out cold and the first quarter ended with Greenville leading 11-6.
-Mekeel's Elizabeth Singleton scored 9 points in the 2nd quarter to help cut the deficit to 1 point, 20-19, at the half. Singleton led all scorers at the break with 13 points. Ava Fitzmaurice had 7 points and Natalie Krasney had 6 for Greenville.
-Greenville started the 3rd quarter on an 8-1 run to open up its largest lead of the night of 8 points 28-20 with 5:00 left in the period. Mekeel responded with its own 15-5 run, paced by 3 three-pointers from Madison Show and a buzzer beater basket off a steal from Rebekkah Dean, to go ahead 35-33 heading into the final period.
-After an Ava Fitzmaurice three pointer and 2 free throws by Skyla Van Fleet the Spartans turned a 1 point deficit into a 4 point lead with under 4 minutes left in the game. Mekeel then responded with 2 three-pointers from Rebekkah Dean to put the Lions back in front, 46-45, with 2:30 remaining in the game.
-2 successful free throw attempts by both teams put Mekeel back in front 48-47 with less than 2 minutes left in regulation. On Greenville's next possession, Rebekkah Dean came up huge again for Mekeel as she picked up a loose ball and went coast to coast for the layup to give the Lions enough cushion to hold on to the victory.
-Elizabeth Singleton led Mekeel Christian with 21 points, and Rebekkah Dean's strong 2nd half netted her 19 points on the night.
-Natalie Krasney led Greenville with 16 points and Ava Fitzmaurice added 11 points.

Blackbirds fly to Class B Semi-Final win.

-The #6 seed Voorheesville Blackbirds jumped out to a commanding 18-5 1st quarter lead over #2 Mechanicville and never looked back as they advanced to the Class B Sectional Final vs Tamarac on Saturday March 3, at Hudson Valley Community College.
-The Blackbirds ran off 17 unanswered points between the 1st and 2nd quarters sparked by solid team offense and their size advantage to keep the halftime lead at 13 points, 33-20.
-Mechanicville cut the deficit to 12 points right before the end of the 3rd quarter on a Charli Goverski basket but Voorheesville's Emily Burke nailed a clutch three-pointer in the closing seconds of the period to push the lead back to 15 heading into the 4th quarter.
-Voorheesville continued to lead by double digits throughout the final frame and won 54-37.
-The Blackbirds placed three players in double figures: Emily Burke 16 points, Olivia Barringer 13 points and Rebecca Clair 10 points.
-Sammy Pasinella led Mechanicville with 10 points and Jada Brown chipped in with 7 points.

-After a Max Kipp three-pointer for Hoosick Falls to give the Panthers a 47-45 lead, with just under 4:00 remaining in the game, Lake George closed the game on 16-2 run to prevail 61-49 and advance on to regional play.
-2 big buckets by the Warrior's Caleb Scrime gave Lake George the lead it would never relinquish breaking open a tight game in the 4th period.
-Jonathan Kempf led Hoosick Falls with 19 points and Evan McCart had 10 points.
-Caleb Scrime had a game high 24 for Lake George and Alex Jones chipped in with 14, including 11 of 12 from the free throw line.

-Argyle raced to leads at every quarter point and held off a late Hartford rally for a 49-40 win and the Section 2 Class D Championship.
-Argyle never trailed in the game, they also never had a double digit lead or could fully shake a scrappy Hartford team.
-Hartford got as close as 4 points late in the 4th quarter (44-40) with 2:00 left, after 2 Alondra Nims free throws, but back to back buckets by Erica Liddle and Sam Humiston sealed the victory for the Scots.
-The Tanagers of Hartford were led in scoring by Cailyn Harrington with 7 points. Alondra Nims, Gabriella McFarren, and Abby Monroe each added 6 points.
-The Scots were paced by a huge 27 point effort from Sam Humiston. Hailee Liddle and Eve Carmody had 7 points each.
