-Tamarac closed the first half on a 23-4 run on their way to a 48-28 victory. Emily Erickson scored a game high 16 points and teammate Renna Poulin added 14. Ichabod Crane was led in scoring by Madison Graham with 8 points and Ama Boham with 7 points. Tamarac will face Voorheesville in the tournament championship Friday. Ichabod Crane will face Hudson in the consolation game.

Bethlehem uses balanced attack to beat Troy in Suburban Council action.

 

-After a slow starting 1st quarter by both teams, Bethlehem used a 14-2 spurt in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd quarter to build a double-digit margin. A Will Davis bucket at the halftime buzzer gave the Eagles a 34-20 halftime lead over the Flying Horses.

 

 

-Bethlehem maintained a double digit lead the whole third quarter and took a 45-32 lead into the 4Q.

 

-Troy used an 18-10 run to start the 4Q to cut the lead to 5 (55-50) after a Latyce Faison three pointer with 1:40 left in the game. The Flying Horses cut the lead to 3 points twice in the final minute and then eventually got the deficit down to 1 point with 0:04 left in the game after a Nazaire Merritt three point play.

 

 

Bethlehem was then fouled and made 1 of 2 free throws to give them a 2 point lead (59-57). Troy was forced to go the length of the floor after the made free throw and couldn’t get a shot off as time expired, giving Bethlehem the 59-57 win.

Bethlehem’s leading scorers were Braden Laclair with 12 points, Erik Salo had 11 points and Jakob Laclair had 10.

 

Troy’s Kevin Ledesma-Mora led the way with 17 points and Nazaire Merritt had 15 points.

-La Salle jumped out to an early 7 point lead after a Seth LaForest three-pointer w/5:00 left in 1Q. Watervliet fought back to cut the deficit to 3 points at the end of the quarter (15-12) behind Messiah Mallory's 5 points.

-The Cadets went on 15-2 run in the last 5 minutes of the 2Q to turn a 4 point Watervliet lead into a 9 point halftime margin. Balanced team scoring and defense gave them the lead.

-La Salle’s Ian Duncan hit a three-pointer right out of the break to give the Cadets their largest lead of the game of 12 (35-23). The Cannoneers responded paced by JJ Chestnut who hit back to back baskets and tallied 13 points in the quarter to give Watervliet a 45-44 lead heading into the final period.

-The teams trade leads throughout most of the 4Q (10 total lead changes in the game). With 2:52 remaining in the game a Seth LaForest bucket gave La Salle the lead that they would never relinquish. Clutch free throw shooting by the Cadets extended the final margin to 63-57.

-Ian Duncan of La Salle led all scorers with 17. Joe DeLollo added 13. JJ Chestnut paced Watervliet with 16 and Derrick Beason had 13.

Game Notes:

 

-After a bucket by Averill Park’s Kelsey Wood with 3:23 left in the 1Q the Warriors jumped out to their biggest lead of the night of 6 (10-4), forcing a timeout from Shen. The Plainsmen responded with a 10-0 run to close the quarter led by Catherine Almeida’s 7 points.

 

-A three-pointer by Megan Gillooley gave Shen their largest lead of the night of 7 (20-13) less than 2 minutes into the 2Q. Averill Park charged back with their own 11-3 run and regained the lead with 2:36 left in the half. Shen scored the last 7 points of the half to lead 32-26 at the break.

 

-Averill Park tied the game at 34 mid-way through the 3Q after 2 free throws from Kelsey Wood. The teams traded scores the rest of the way and a Stephanie Jankovic basket beats the 3Q buzzer to give the Warriors a 42-40 lead heading into the 4Q.

 

-The Warriors quickly built a 5-point lead early in the 4Q but a three-pointer by Shen’s Cameron Tooley knocked the margin back to 2 with 6:30 left in the game. Averill Park continued to hold a small lead throughout the quarter until Cameron Tooley hit another three-pointer to tie the game at 50 with 1:33 left in the game.

 

- After the tie at 50 both teams went back and forth (play by play below for last 1:30) until Stephanie Jankovic gave the Warriors a 2 point lead with 14 seconds left. After a timeout Shen’s Catherine Almeida knocked down a clutch three-pointer from the top of the key to give the Plainsmen a 1 point lead 57-56. A last second shot by Averill Park didn't fall and Shen hung on for the win.
