(Troy)

Troy cruised past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 74-52 in a Class AA playoff quarter-final tilt at Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday.

The Flying Horses set the tone early, jumping out to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Senior forward Stetson Merritt led all scorers with 32 points. Kayne Behan and Josiah Acevedo provided additional firepower, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake were led by a strong effort from John Klopher, who finished with 24 points, including five three-pointers. Gus Fusco added nine points.

Troy extended its lead in the second and third quarters, outscoring BHBL 45-28 during that stretch. A late push by Burnt Hills in the fourth quarter wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit, as Troy secured a comfortable 22-point victory.

With this win, #3 Troy advances to the next round of the playoffs to play #2 La Salle at Cool Insuring Arena on 3/6 at 5 pm.
