Stillwater surged past Berne-Knox-Westerlo with a dominant second quarter and a strong finish, securing a 57-30 victory in sectional play at Hudson Valley Community College on Tuesday night. The Warriors will get another chance to face their Wasaren League rival Greenwich in the Class C Final at HVCC on 3/8 at 2:30 pm. Stillwater lost both previous matchup's vs. The Witches this season.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo (18-5) started fast, taking a 12-10 lead after the first quarter. However, Stillwater (21-2) responded with a commanding 21-point second quarter to seize control of the game. The Bulldogs struggled to regain momentum, managing just 11 points in the second half while the Warriors closed with a dominant 19-point fourth quarter.

Stillwater was led by Addison Thorton with 17 points, Andie Luskin added 13 points and Miranda Price chipped in with 12 points.

Katie Stevens, Annie Lendrum and Olivia Kirker scored six points each to pace The Bulldogs.

Mohonasen suffered defeat to Amsterdam 52-35 in a Class A opening round sectional match up. The Rams built upon their dependable second half play as they led at the end of the third quarter and at the game ending stoppage. They now move on to play Averill Park on Thursday February 23rd at 7:30 p.m.

Amsterdam used a monster second half as they pulled away for the decisive win. The Rams broke open a close game in third quarter using an 11-0 run to go from two points up (31-29) to a thireen point cushion.

The Rams finished the game in splendid fashion as they overshadowed Mohonasen by 7-points in the fourth quarter holding their opponent to just one free throw in the frame.

The Rams bolted from opening whistle and took hold of the ball game on their way to a hefty first quarter lead 16-7. They impeded their opponent with a spectacular defensive effort and grabbed control of the frame. Yet, The Mighty Warriors rallied in the second quarter and outscored Amsterdam by 9 points.

The teams went to the first half locker room break with the game tied 23-23.

Amsterdam took the game by storm coming from the locker room, after both teams drawing level at the half, which helped them capture the lead 44-34 moving on to the final frame.

The teams put on a defensive clinic in the fourth quarter as they combined for merely 9 points.

Sharazade Cooper put forth a strong offensive game for Amsterdam with 10 points. Felise Fowler splashed in 9 points. Kaijah Fowler finished with 8 points. Rosie Sculco bagged 8 points. Natalee Agresta chipped in 6 points.
Amsterdam connected on 6 hoops from deep.

Bella Petrocci guided Mohonasen with 11 points. Caite Richmond contributed 10 points. Peyton Whipple tallied 7 points. Ava Quenneville sank 4 points.
The Mighty Warriors shot outstanding from the foul line as they churned out 70.8%, 17 of 24.

Schalmont beat Coxsackie Athens 48-25 in Clas B sectional action. Arianna Brandon lit up the scoreboard for the Sabres going off for 22 points as the Sabres led from start to finish. Schalmont, the #4 seed, moves on to play #12 Fonda at Albany Academy on Wednesday February 22nd at 6 p.m.

The Sabres were strong out of the gate and took hold of the ball game on their way to a generous first quarter lead 13-2. They relied on their stout defense and seized momentum in the period.

The Riverhawks lagged behind 32-8 at the half. The Sabres produced as a complete unit in the second quarter turning a 11-point first quarter lead into a 24-point halftime upper hand.

The Sabres were benefitted by a robust performance in the third quarter and outscored Coxsackie Athens by 6 points.The teams put on a defensive clinic in the fourth quarter as they combined for only 11 points. Coxsackie Athens played well in the final quarter but the seconds ticked away hurting any chance of a comeback.
 
Schalmont managed to be ahead at all frame finishes by leads of 11, 24, 30, & 23.

Arianna Brandon guided Schalmont with 22 points. Karissa Antoine chipped in 15 points. Gianna Cirilla scored 8 points.
The Sabres drained 5 hoops from long range.
Arianna Brandon made 3 three-pointers.
Schalmont shot outstanding from the stripe as they made good on 68.4%, 13 of 19.

Riley Sitcer helped the cause for the Riverhawks with 19 points. Isabella Luvera added 4 points.
