Greenwich won a nail-biter versus Hoosick Falls 57-53 in a tough as nails Section 2 Class CC sectional match up. The Witches advance to the semi-final round vs Stillwater at Cool Insuring Arena on 2/27 at 6:30 p.m.

The Witches went off in a crunch time recovery as they out-shot Hoosick Falls 20-10 as regulation came to an end. That burst enabled them to celebrate the outcome. With just under three minutes left in the third quarter Greenwich trailed by ten points, 41-31. They then turned the game upside down by going on a 22-4 run from late in the third period until late in the fourth quarter.
 
Even after that Greenwich run Hoosick Falls still had an opportunity to tie the game in the final seconds, trailing 56-53, but their three point attempt didn't connect. These two Wasaren League rivals battled each other the entire contest.

Focused play in the second half helped as Greenwich outscored Hoosick Falls 37-26 in the final two periods. That was the inverse of the first half when Hoosick Falls darted out to a 27-20 lead at the midway point.

Both teams scratched and clawed to score the ball in the opening quarter as they combined for only 17 points. But, The Panthers had great energy right from the tip off and darted in front to gain an ample first quarter lead 12-5. They put together an imposing effort guarding the hoop and were in command during the frame.

Jacob Ziehm guided Greenwich with 17 points. Joe Skiff secured 16 points. Robert Barnes netted 9 points. Ryan Alling totaled 8 points.
Greenwich made 7 trifectas.

Jake Sparks ignited the offense for Hoosick Falls with 34 points. Aiden Fleming poured in 10 points.

In a wild finish, Shaker secured a hard-fought 59-56 victory over Shenendehowa to punch their ticket to Monday night's Class AAA Final vs. Colonie at HVCC, 7:45 pm. The Blue Bison held off a furious fourth-quarter comeback by the Plainsmen to grab the win in an overtime battle between these Suburban Council teams.

Shaker controlled much of the game early, taking a 14-10 lead after the first quarter and holding Shenendehowa to just six points in the third as they held a 32-24 lead heading into the final frame. However, Shenendehowa erupted in the fourth quarter, scoring 27 points to force the extra session as they erased a double digit deficit in the period. Despite the late surge, Shaker found a way to regroup and outscored Shenendehowa 8-5 in the extra period to clinch the victory.

Malia Jackson was great on both ends of the floor as she led Shaker’s offense with a dominant 28-point performance, while Sofia Lanni contributed 11 points, Jayla Geter 8 points

Shenendehowa’s Kate Milham delivered a stellar individual effort, pouring in 24 points. Gianna Winter also made a strong impact with 14 points.

The Northville Falcons successfully defended their Class D championship, rolling past Saratoga Catholic 68-38 in the title game at Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday morning.

The game started as a defensive battle, with both teams managing just six points in the first quarter. However, Northville broke the game open in the second, outscoring the Saints 19-4 to take a commanding lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Falcons continued their dominance, putting up 26 points in the third quarter to extend their advantage. Saratoga Catholic showed fight in the final period but was unable to cut into the deficit as Northville cruised to victory.

With the win, Northville secured its second consecutive Class D championship, capping off a stellar 20-2 season and they move on to NYSPHSAA regional action.

The Falcons placed four players in double figure scoring: Hailey Monroe led with 21 points, Lily Klippel and Keira MacKey had 12 points each and Karla Hill added 10 points.

Addison Whitebeck led the Saints with 18 points, Sophia Ryan 16 points. Saratoga Catholic, finishing with a 13-10 record.

Bishop Gibbons won a suspense filled game vs. Northville 31-30 in the Class D semi-final round. The Golden Knights, who trailed the whole contest, took their first and only lead of the game on a Mia Wylie basket with 0:05 seconds left in the fourth quarter. They now move on the the Class D Championship Game on March 2nd at HVCC vs. Hartford at 6 p.m.

Bishop Gibbons used a fourth quarter rally as they bested Northville 12-3 as the clock struck midnight. Clutch play down the stretch was the key to the victory.

Offensive and defensive adjustments in the latter part of the game were a key as the Golden Knights outscored Northville 22-12 in the final sixteen minutes. That was different as they flipped the script of the first half when Northville sprinted out to a 18-9 lead at the midway point.

The Falcons had great energy right from the tip off and darted in front to gain a generous first quarter lead 8-2. They relied on their stout defense and were in the drivers seat throughout the period.

Angelina Dietz helped the cause for the Golden Knights with 13 points. Mia Wylie racked up 12 points. Autumn Davis poured in 4 points.

Hailey Monroe showed the way for Northville with 14 points. Leah Valovic chipped in 8 points. Hannah Hoffman bagged 4 points.

Albany Academy for Girls delivered a commanding performance in the Class A sectional championship, defeating Broadalbin-Perth 65-43 at Hudson Valley Community College on Saturday afternoon. This is the third straight sectional title for the Bears. (2023 & 2024 in Class B)

The Bears, now 19-4 on the season, set the tone early with a strong offensive start, while their defensive pressure kept the Patriots in check. By halftime, Albany Academy had established a comfortable lead, forcing Broadalbin-Perth to play from behind the rest of the way.

Despite a determined effort, Broadalbin-Perth (20-2) struggled to find an answer for the Bears' balanced attack. 

Albany Academy had three players in double digit scoring. Alex Leonard had 17 points, Eva Gitto 15 points, and Morgan Vien 14 points.

Molly Russom scored a game high 21 points for Broadalbin Perth, Summer Perry 8 points and Marcy Hotaling 7 points.
