(Albany)

 

Niskayuna took the lead early in the fourth quarter, of a back and forth contest, and went on to beat Albany 70-65. Jake McDonald scored a game high 23 points including two clutch hoops with Niskayuna trailing 54-53 to give the road team some cushion and help close out the game.

Albany stormed out of the game racing out to a 15-4 lead. Niskayuna then used a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 15-13, however Albany used and 6-0 run of their own and held a 21-16 lead at the end of the period. The game of run continued between periods as Niskayuna grabbed the lead after an 11-0 run and led at halftime 30-29.

Jake McDonald knocked down 23 points to pace Niskayuna, Brady Olsen 20 points, Will DiCaprio 10 points, Poem Staten 9 points, Josh Harrow 8 points.

Rasahn Johnson 22 points led Albany. Richard Wright added 18 points and Sincere Allah chipped in with 10 points.

Girls-

Shaker used a strong second half to fend off Columbia and secure a 66–59 victory.

The Blue Devils fell behind early as Shaker jumped out to a 16–9 lead after the first quarter. Columbia responded in the second, outscoring the home team 18–10 to take a 27–26 edge into halftime. The game remained tight through the third quarter, but Shaker’s balanced attack began to take control, carrying a 44–38 advantage into the final period.

Both teams traded baskets in an up-tempo fourth quarter, with Columbia pouring in 21 points behind a dominant effort from Sarah Rainville. However, Shaker matched the surge with 22 points of its own to maintain separation down the stretch.

Rainville delivered a standout performance for Columbia, finishing with 35 points, including 13 field goals and a near-perfect 6-of-7 effort from the free-throw line. Amirah Warren added nine points.

Shaker countered with three players in double figures. Malia Jackson led the way with 21 points, Peyton Hoblock added 20, and Giada Lanni contributed 10. Aailay Powell chipped in eight.

Shenendehowa overwhelmed Schenectady from the opening tip Tuesday night, cruising to a 78–23 victory.

The Plainsmen set the tone immediately, erupting for 28 points in the first quarter while holding Schenectady to just five. The lead only grew in the second period, as Shenendehowa poured in another 23 points to take a commanding 51–15 advantage into halftime.

Shenendehowa limited Schenectady to just two points in the third quarter while adding 13 more of its own, pushing the margin past 40.

Gianna Winter led a balanced and explosive offensive effort with 24 points on 12 field goals. Kate Milham added 21 points, knocking down two shots from beyond the arc, while Mya Parker contributed 15 points, including a strong 5-of-6 performance at the free-throw line.

Schenectady was paced by Sela Tatum with seven points and Samara Brewer with six.

Girls-

Albany used a strong third quarter to earn a 58–51 road victory over Guilderland.

The game was tightly contested early. Albany edged out to a 14–12 lead after the first quarter, and both teams matched each other with 17 points in the second to give the visitors a narrow 31–29 advantage at halftime.

The turning point came in the third quarter. Albany outscored Guilderland 17–10 in the period, stretching the lead to nine heading into the final frame. Guilderland made a late push in the fourth, but Albany did enough down the stretch to secure the seven-point win.

Akarri Gaddy was a force for Albany, finishing with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks to anchor the paint on both ends. Janae Byrams matched her with 19 points of her own, knocking down three 3-pointers and adding four assists and three steals in an all-around performance.

Guilderland was led by Emily Bigness, who poured in 17 points, including three shots from beyond the arc. Christina Williams added 13 points and went 8-for-10 from the free-throw line, while Aileana Engelson scored 10 points with a pair of 3-pointers.

Girls-

Averill Park pulled away in the second half to defeat Ballston Spa 70–41.

The Golden Knights led 13–11 after the first quarter before creating separation in the second, outscoring Ballston Spa 19–12 to take a 32–23 advantage into halftime. Averill Park continued to build on that lead in the third quarter with a 20-point effort, stretching the margin to 52–38 heading into the final period. A dominant defensive fourth quarter, holding Ballston Spa to just three points, sealed the decisive win.

Sheyanne Law paced Averill Park with 17 points, including a three-pointer and a 4-for-5 effort from the free-throw line. Addison Alvey added 12 points, while Reese Ahern knocked down three shots from beyond the arc and finished with 12 points. Aubrey Wilson contributed seven points and connected on a three-pointer, and several others chipped in as the Warriors showcased balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

Ballston Spa was led by Avery Ostrander, who scored 14 points, including two three-pointers. Aubrey Kramer added 10 points, and Caroline Fersch finished with nine.

Girls-

Colonie built an early lead and never looked back in a 51–32 victory over Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. This was Wolfpack coach Heather Dibiase's 269 victory at the school making her the winningest coach in the program's history. Karen Bonitatibus previously held the record.

The Wolfpack set the tone immediately, racing out to a 15–3 advantage after the first quarter. Burnt Hills struggled to find consistent offense in the opening half, managing just eight total points through two quarters as Colonie carried a 22–8 lead into halftime.

Burnt Hills showed signs of life in the third quarter, scoring 14 points, but Colonie answered with 13 points of its own to maintain control at 35–22 entering the fourth. The Wolfpack then closed the door by outscoring the Spartans 16–10 in the final period.

Olivia Hoffman led Colonie with 14 points, knocking down a three-pointer and going 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Aliyah Pearson also scored 14, connecting on two shots from beyond the arc and converting both of her free throws. Aliana Payne added seven points.

Burnt Hills was paced by Larson’s 12 points, including a three-pointer and a 3-for-4 effort at the line. Taniyah Monforte added nine points, and Colby Suydam finished with five.

Boys-

Spa catholic wins 82-59 clinching a 2nd straight North Division Title. The Saints started the year 1-2 in league play before reeling off 8 out of their last 9! Wasaren league title is 3 pm Saturday vs Tamarac @ Hoosic Valley CSD

CBA Holds Off Niskayuna, 65-54

CBA used a strong first half and balanced scoring to earn a 65-54 victory over Niskayuna on Tuesday night.

CBA jumped out early, building a 12-9 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 27-24 at halftime. The visitors created separation in the third quarter, outscoring Niskayuna 17-11 to take a 44-35 advantage into the final period. CBA maintained control down the stretch, finishing with 21 points in the fourth to seal the 11-point win.

Jayden Osinski led CBA with 22 points. Austin Osinski added 20 points. Amare Coffil contributed 8 points.

Niskayuna was paced by Jake McDonald, who scored a team-high 19 points. Brady Olsen added 15 points, and Will DiCaprio finished with 9.

Boys-

Hoosic Valley Edges Stillwater, 45-42

Hoosic Valley held off a late push from Stillwater to earn a hard-fought 45-42 victory in a tightly contested matchup.

Hoosic Valley set the tone early, taking a 11-8 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 20-15 by halftime. The game remained close throughout the third quarter, with Hoosic Valley carrying a 30-26 advantage into the final period.

Hoosic Valley was led by a balanced scoring effort. Simpson paced the offense with 13 points. Harris added 12 points.

Stillwater answered with multiple contributors. Wagner led the way with 11 points, and Morris added 10. Williams finished with 9, while Scheeler contributed 7 in support.

Mohonasen Pulls Away Late to Defeat Lansingburgh (75-37) in Colonial Council Matchup

Mohonasen earned a 75–37 win over Lansingburgh on Friday night, but the final score didn’t fully reflect the stretches of competitive play the Knights put together, especially in the first half.

Lansingburgh opened with poise, moving the ball well and getting early scoring from A. Shippie and K. Losee, who each finished with 12 points. The Knights stayed within reach through the first two quarters, putting up 7 and 12 points respectively. K. Sheppie added 9 points, giving Lansingburgh a steady perimeter presence.

Mohonasen gradually found its rhythm as the game progressed. The Warriors used a strong second quarter to build a cushion, then broke the game open after halftime with back‑to‑back 20‑point quarters. Senior guard Payton Whipple led all scorers with 33 points, knocking down 11 three‑pointers in a standout shooting performance. Whipple also broke the all-time single game record, and, on her last 3 - she also broke the all-time 3 pt shooting record of 184, (she currently has 185 and counting). Maddie Swint added 18 points, attacking inside and converting both of her free throws.

Mohonasen also got contributions across the lineup: Emma Mullen dished out 8 assists and scored 9, Lucy Musto added 5, and Maggie Mullin and Kate LeClerc each chipped in 4. Jordan Walker rounded out the scoring with 2.

Despite the margin, Lansingburgh continued to compete through the final whistle, generating quality looks and showing resilience against Mohonasen’s pressure defense. The Knights’ effort kept the game physical and energetic throughout.

The win gives Mohonasen momentum heading deeper into February, while Lansingburgh showed several bright spots that should carry into its upcoming matchups.

Broadalbin-Perth built an early lead and held off Queensbury for a 47–34 victory.

The Patriots set the tone in the opening quarter, jumping out to a 14–6 advantage and maintaining control through the first half. Queensbury showed fight in the third quarter, outscoring Broadalbin-Perth 12–11, but the visitors answered in the final period to secure the win.

Brianna Savoie led Broadalbin-Perth with 15 points, knocking down five three-pointers to spark the offense. Mia Priamo added 10 points, while Addison Gifford chipped in seven. Alana Schotts and Priya Nichani each scored five as the Patriots spread the scoring across the lineup.

Queensbury was paced by Emily Sassaman, who finished with 13 points, including three three-pointers. Kenzie Wilson added 10 points , and Kady Duffy contributed eight.

Girls-

Mohonasen delivered a dominant performance on its home floor Tuesday night, rolling past Catholic Central 80–38 in a Colonial Council girls basketball matchup.

Mohonasen wasted no time taking control, exploding out of the gate with a 25–3 first quarter that set the tone for the rest of the night. Mohonasen continued to build its lead in the second quarter, heading into halftime up 41–10, and never allowed Catholic Central to threaten the margin.

A strong third quarter pushed the advantage even further, as Mohonasen outscored CCHS 24–15 to take a commanding 65–25 lead into the final frame before closing out the win with a steady fourth quarter.

Payton Whipple led a balanced Mohonasen attack with a game-high 21 points, while Lucy Musto followed closely with 19. Maddie Swint added 14 points, Emma Mullen chipped in 12, and Maggie Mullin contributed nine.

Catholic Central was paced by Emma Sagendorf, who scored 17 points, and Ella DiBacco added 10. Ava Oeffler contributed nine.

Hudson Falls ran away down the stretch to earn a 73–60 home win over Scotia.

After a fast start by the Tigers, taking a 23–11 lead after one. Scotia fought back in the second, outscoring Hudson Falls 21–10 to cut the deficit to just one point at halftime. The game remained competitive coming out of the break, but Hudson Falls regained control with a 17–11 edge in the third quarter and sealed the win by pouring in 23 points in the fourth.

Hudson Falls was led by a dominant performance from Brady Smith, who poured in 30 points while attacking the paint and getting to the foul line, where the Tigers went an efficient 17-for-21 as a team. Dom DeMello added 13 points, while Mason Moskal chipped in eight. Xander Canale-Bowe finished with six points, and Logan Parker added four to round out the scoring.

Scotia was paced by Bellotti, who led all visitors with 18 points, and Martin, who added 14. Fredrick contributed 15 points, including a pair of three-pointers, as Scotia connected on 11 shots from beyond the arc.

Amsterdam grabbed the lead early and never looked back, earning a 72–46 road victory over Queensbury.

The Rams set the tone right from the opening tip, jumping out to an 18–10 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 31–25 at halftime. A decisive third quarter proved to be the turning point, as Amsterdam outscored Queensbury 23–10 to create a commanding cushion heading into the final period.

Mia Natale delivered a standout performance for Amsterdam, pouring in a game-high 34 points while knocking down seven three-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Emma Araujo added 13 points, and Kaemari Allen chipped in 15 to give the Rams three players in double figures.

Queensbury was led by Kady Duffy with nine points, while Addison Cintora contributed eight and Hannah Blanchard and Emerson Brooks added seven apiece.

Girls-

Warrensburg travelled to Crown Point on Monday for a NonLeague Girls Basketball match-up.  The Lady Burghers prevailed by a score of 45-37.  Avah Fiorentino led the Burghers with 17 points while Cailtlin O'Donnell had another double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.   Crown Point was led by Eva Sargent (17 points), and Addison James (12 points).  

With the win, the Lady Burghers improved to 10-7 on the season.  It is the 13th consecutive year Warrensburg has had 10 or more wins during the season.

Boys-

Fonda pulled away in the second half to secure a 57–46 victory over Herkimer.

After a competitive opening quarter, Fonda held an 11–8 edge and extended the lead to 24–17 by halftime. The Braves delivered their biggest push in the third quarter, outscoring Herkimer 20–14 to open up breathing room heading into the final period. Herkimer battled back with a 15-point fourth quarter, but Fonda’s earlier surge proved too much to overcome.

Riley Wilson led all scorers with a dominant 32-point performance, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Nick Myers provided strong support with 20 points, including four three-pointers, giving Fonda-Fultonville a potent one-two punch offensively. Henry Sweet and Brayden Wassink rounded out the scoring as the Braves totaled 22 made field goals on the night.

Herkimer was paced by Carl Pace with 12 points and Caiden Vogt with 11. Brian Lindsey added eight, while Nick Allen chipped in five.

Columbia used a dominant second half to pull away from Guilderland and earn a 73–53 road victory.

Guilderland came out strong, taking an 18–13 lead after the first quarter and keeping pace through the first half. The Dutchmen led 33–29 at the break. Columbia flipped the momentum coming out of halftime, the Blue Devils erupted for 26 third-quarter points, turning a close game into a double-digit advantage.

Sarah Rainville powered the Columbia offense with a game-high 29 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers. Madelyn Marra added 23 points, including three shots from beyond the arc.

For Guilderland, Christina Williams led the way with 22 points, highlighted by six three-pointers, while Jayde Carrk chipped in 11. Aileana Engelson added seven points, but the Lady Dutch were limited to just eight points in the fourth quarter as Columbia closed the game with an 18–8 final period to secure the win.

 Girls-

On senior night in Warrensburg, the Lady Burghers beat North Warren by a score of 40-21.  The second quarter proved to be the turning point in the game as Warrensburg outscored North Warren 20-7 in that quarter.  Warrensburg senior Caitlin O'Donnell finished with a double- double, registering 15 points and 14 rebounds.  Warrensburg's other senior, Avah Fiorentino, finished with 6 points.  For North Warren, Mya Higgins finished with 7 points and also did a really good job on the defensive end.  Addison Swan finished with 6 points for the Cougars.   
 
With the win, Warrensburg improves to 4-5 in the league and 9-7 overall.  North Warren drops to 2-7, 4-9.

The Blue Bison set the tone immediately, holding Bethlehem scoreless in the opening quarter while building a commanding 20–0 lead. Shaker’s pressure defense and balanced scoring continued to create separation in the second quarter, sending the hosts into halftime with a 31–7 advantage.

Bethlehem showed more offensive rhythm after the break, scoring eight points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth, but Shaker answered with its best offensive stretch in the third period. A 23-point quarter allowed the Blue Bison to extend the margin to 54–15 and put the game firmly out of reach.

Peyton Hoblock led Shaker with 12 points, while Sofia Lanni and Malia Jackson each added 11. Jayse Keville contributed eight points, and Giada Lanni finished with six as Shaker spread the scoring across the lineup.

Bethlehem was led by Brynn Elfeldt with 10 points and Elizabeth Kearney with eight.

Shenendehowa delivered a strong all-around, pulling away early and cruising to a 73–42 victory over Saratoga Springs.

The Plainsmen set the tempo from the opening tip, jumping out to a 20–6 lead after the first quarter and following it with a 24-point second quarter to take a commanding 44–23 advantage into halftime. Shenendehowa continued to control the game on both ends after the break keeping Saratoga Springs from mounting a serious comeback.

Kate Milham led the Shenendehowa attack with a game-high 22 points, knocking down six field goals and two three-pointers while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Gianna Winter added 12 points, and Kailey Weber chipped in 10. Teagan Foulke, Gianna Sodon, Jordyn Gurney, and Charlotte Baroody each contributed six points as the Plainsmen showcased balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

Saratoga Springs was paced by Evelyn Pilkington, who scored 14 points and went 9-for-10 from the foul line. Charlotte Panetta added eight points, while Jordan Gennoy and Analynn Scelzi each hit from beyond the arc in the loss.

Schenectady was paced by Sela Tatum, who finished with eight points, and Samara Brewer, who added five. Analiegh Burr-Huggins and Ava D’Auge each contributed four points in the loss.

Northville withstood a late push to edge Bishop Gibbons 52–50 in a tightly contested in the WAC.

The Falcons set the tone early, jumping out to an 18–10 lead after the first quarter and extending the margin to 33–22 at halftime. Bishop Gibbons responded in a big way in the third quarter, erupting for 21 points to cut into the deficit and make it a one-possession game heading into the final frame.

Nicholas Bholaisingh paced Bishop Gibbons with a game-high 18 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Zion Rucker added 13 points, while Anthony Dobkowski chipped in eight.

Northville answered when it mattered most. Landon Fraiser led a balanced Falcons attack with 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, while Niko Sevastakis also scored 13 and filled the stat sheet with seven assists. Brayd’n Bovee contributed 11 points, and Salvatore Pagano added nine.

Northville did just enough in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bishop Gibbons 11–7, to secure the narrow two-point victory on its home floor.

Girls-

Guilderland closed strong to rally past Cohoes, 41–35.

Cohoes controlled the early stages, taking a 12–7 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 25–18 at halftime behind steady scoring from Taylor Hickey and Maria Frank. The momentum began to shift in the third quarter as Guilderland tightened up defensively, holding Cohoes to just six points while trimming the deficit to two heading into the fourth.

The visiting Dutchmen finished the job in the final eight minutes, outscoring Cohoes 12–4 to complete the comeback. Aileana Engelson led the way with a game-high 18 points, knocking down four three-pointers to spark the rally. Christina Williams added 11 points.

Cohoes was led by Hickey’s 15 points and Frank’s eight.

Boys-

Fonda put together a complete performance on both ends of the floor to earn a convincing 61–33 victory over Galway.

Fonda set the tone early, jumping out to a 21–5 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. They continued to apply pressure in the second, taking a 36–16 advantage into halftime.

Ballston Spa came out firing, taking a 20–15 lead after the first quarter behind hot shooting. Columbia responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Scotties 15-9 to lead 30-29 at halftime. The Blue Devils closed the night with a dominant 26-point fourth quarter to seal the win.

Madelyn Marra led all scorers with a standout performance, finishing with 29 points that included four three-pointers and five made free throws. Sarah Rainville was right behind her with 24 points. Amirah Warren added 12 points, while Audrey Crewell chipped in eight points.

The Tigers jumped out early, taking a 19–11 lead after the first quarter, and steadily widened the gap as the game went on. Hudson Falls outscored North Warren 15–11 in the second quarter and carried a 34–22 advantage into halftime. A decisive third quarter proved to be the turning point, as the Tigers poured in 20 points while holding North Warren to 16, pushing the lead to 54–38 heading into the final period. Hudson Falls closed things out in the fourth to secure the win.

Brady Smith finished with 17 points, Stephen Potvin provided a spark with 13 points, while Santino Miranda also added 13 for Hudson Falls.

Guilderland edged Niskayuna 56–53 in overtime.

The Dutchmen built early momentum behind a strong first quarter, taking a 17–11 lead. Niskayuna responded in the second period with an 18-point outburst to grab a slim 29–27 advantage at halftime. Defense dominated the third quarter, with Guilderland holding the Silver Warriors to just six points to move back in front, 37–35.

Both teams traded baskets in the fourth. Niskayuna scored 13 points in the period, while Guilderland matched them with 11, sending the game to overtime tied at 48. In the extra session, Guilderland delivered when it mattered most, outscoring Niskayuna 8–5 to secure the hard-fought win.

Christina Williams led all scorers with a game-high 23 points for Guilderland, including three three-pointers and a perfect 6-for-6 effort at the free-throw line. Jayde Carrk added 13 points, and Cameron Kile chipped in 11 to give the Dutchmen a balanced scoring attack.

Broadalbin-Perth came out firing, jumping to a 22–12 lead after the first quarter behind a barrage of three-pointers. Hudson Falls responded in the second quarter, outscoring the Patriots 17–9 to trim the deficit to 31–29 at halftime. The teams matched each other point for point in the third quarter, each scoring 12, setting up a dramatic final period.

The fourth quarter turned into a back-and-forth battle. Broadalbin-Perth connected on several timely shots from beyond the arc to keep pressure on the home team, but Hudson Falls stayed composed at the foul line. The Tigers went 16-for-22 from the stripe overall and knocked down key free throws in the closing moments to preserve the one-point win.

Brady Smith delivered a dominant performance for Hudson Falls, scoring 36 points and pulling down 21 rebounds to anchor the Tigers on both ends of the floor. Dom Gotte-Seymour added seven points, while Mason Moskal chipped in six.

Fonda set the tone early, taking an 11–8 lead after the first quarter before breaking the game open in the second. Fonda-Fultonville poured in 22 points in the period, building a 33–17 halftime advantage.

Nick Myers led the way for Fonda-Fultonville with a game-high 23 points, knocking down five three-pointers. Riley Wilson added 22 points, including two shots from beyond the arc, while also going a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.

Warrensburg travelled to Salem on Wednesday for an Adirondack League girls basketball game.  Warrensburg prevailed, by a score of 57-40.  Avah Fiorentino led all scorers and had a career high 26 points for the Lady Burghers.  She also finished with 7 assists and 3 steals.  Genna Lehocki finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds for Warrensburg.  Kaylie Powers secured 8 rebounds to go with her 5 points for Warrensburg and Haley Morse finished with 6 points and 4 assists.  
 
Makenzie McKernon led Salem with 19 points while Meredith Barrett finished with 9.

ROTTERDAM — In a Colonial Council matchup on Tuesday night, Mohonasen hosted Cohoes in a hard‑fought girls basketball contest that featured strong defensive play and balanced scoring on both sides.

Mohonasen earned a  victory behind a standout performance from Maddie Swint, who posted 14 points and 10 rebounds, while controlling the paint with 6 blocks. Payton Whipple and Emma Mullin both added 11, helping the Warriors maintain momentum during a key 3rd quarter run.

Cohoes was led by Taylor Hickey, who finished with 12 points, helped keep it close until Mohon finally pulled away for the 54-25 win.

After the break Shenendehowa put together another overwhelming quarter, holding Burnt Hills to just two points while scoring 21 of its own in the third. With the outcome well in hand, the Plainsmen maintained their intensity in the fourth, closing the night with a 13–5 edge to secure the lopsided victory.

Gianna Sodon led all scorers with 22 points, highlighted by six three-pointers. Gianna Winter and Charlotte Baroody added 13 points each, while Kate Milham added 12 points.

Warrensburg beat Hartford tonight 55-42 in the Adirondack League contest.  Warrensburg got off to a good start, outscoring Hartford 20-9 in the first quarter.  Carmyn Fruda scored a career high 16 points for Warrensburg, 10 of which came in the first quarter.   Avah Fiorentino contributed 15 points (14 in the second half) and hit some big foul shots in the second half.  Genna Lehocki had a double-double 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Glens Falls pulled away in the second half to earn a convincing 58–31 road victory over Queensbury.

The game opened as a defensive battle, with Queensbury holding a narrow 9–7 lead after the first quarter. Glens Falls began to find its rhythm in the second, outscoring Queensbury 12–7 to take a slim 19–16 advantage into halftime.

The turning point came in the third quarter, as Glens Falls took control on both ends of the floor. The visitors poured in 19 points in the period while limiting Queensbury to nine, stretching the lead to 38–25. Glens Falls kept the pressure on in the fourth quarter, closing the game with a 20–6 run to seal the win.

Arya Viger led Glens Falls with 17 points, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Allie Dickinson chipped in 12 while Holly Hirsch added 10 points. Piper Eddy and Ashlyn Wiggins contributed eight and seven points, respectively, as Glens Falls showed balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

Fonda-Fultonville used a dominant third-quarter surge to pull away from Fort Plain and earn a convincing 74–41 Western Athletic Conference boys basketball victory.

Fonda held a slim 15–12 edge after the opening quarter before tightening up defensively in the second, limiting Fort Plain to just six points and taking a 33–18 lead into halftime. Fonda-Fultonville then put the game out of reach in the third quarter, erupting for 29 points to extend the margin to 62–35 before cruising through the final eight minutes.

Riley Wilson led all scorers with a game-high 31 points, converting 8 of 11 free throws. Nick Myers followed with 19 points, while Sam Huckans added nine and Brayden Wassink chipped in six. Fonda-Fultonville knocked down nine three-pointers, with Wilson and Myers accounting for six of them.

Fort Plain was paced by Owen Castellano with 13 points, while Enjah Brown finished with 11.

Corinth dominated every aspect of the game in securing the 47-14 win over Warrensburg in Adirondack League Girls Basketball on Wednesday.   Corinth used an impressive 35-0 run from part way through the first quarter to the 3rd quarter.   Balanced scoring and tenacious defense were the keys for Corinth as they had 10 different players score.

Northville jumped out early, taking a 14–5 lead after the first quarter. OESJ responded in the second quarter, finding its offensive rhythm and outscoring Northville 16–8 to close the gap and trail just 22–21 at halftime.

The momentum shifted decisively after the break as OESJ controlled the third quarter, pouring in 22 points while holding Northville to 16. That surge gave the hosts a 43–38 advantage heading into the final period.

Northville was led by Keira Mackey, who scored a game-high 23 points, and Izzy Colon, who added 14 points along with eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Leah Valovic posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds in a strong all-around effort.

Christian Brothers Academy used a fast start and balanced scoring to roll past Averill Park 69–34.

CBA set the tone early, jumping out to a commanding 24–4 lead in the first quarter behind aggressive defense and efficient scoring. The Brothers continued to control the tempo in the second quarter, taking a 33–15 advantage into halftime.

Any hopes of an Averill Park comeback were erased after the break, as CBA outscored the Warriors 21–12 in the third quarter and followed with a 15–7 edge in the fourth to cruise to the lopsided victory.

JJ Osinski led all scorers with 25 points for CBA. A. Osinski added 18 points, while Polydore chipped in six and Cadet contributed five as the Brothers spread the scoring throughout the lineup.

Catskill’s fast-paced offense proved too much for Maple Hill as the visiting Cats pulled away for an 88–69 win.

Catskill came out firing in the opening quarter, erupting for 29 points to seize early control. Maple Hill responded with a stronger second quarter, but Catskill still carried a 47–28 lead into halftime. The home team showed resilience after the break, outscoring Catskill 26–23 in the third quarter to cut into the deficit, but Catskill answered with another 18-point fourth quarter to seal the win.

Gonzalez led all scorers with 23 points for Catskill, while T. Hendy added 16 points and Nielsen chipped in 14. Harris contributed 12 points, giving Catskill a balanced scoring attack that consistently pressured Maple Hill’s defense throughout the night.

Hudson Falls dropped a non-league boys basketball matchup to Green Tech, 62–42 as the visiting Eagles pulled away over the final three quarters.

The game was competitive early, with Green Tech holding a slim 15–14 edge after the opening quarter. The Eagles began to create separation in the second quarter, outscoring Hudson Falls 12–11 to take a 27–25 lead into halftime.

Green Tech seized control coming out of the locker room, using a strong third-quarter surge to extend the margin. The Eagles poured in 20 points in the period while holding Hudson Falls to just nine, turning a close game into a double-digit advantage. Green Tech continued to build on that lead in the fourth quarter with a 15–8 run to close out the victory.

Warrensburg won the Maroon Division championship at the Argyle Showcase tournament today with a 52-39 victory over Cambridge.  Division MVP Avah Fiorentino led all scorers with 21 points, including 16 in the second half.   Caitlin O'Donnell was also named to the Maroon Division All-Tournament team and finished the championship game with 8 points and 10 rebounds.  Genna Lehocki had 13 points and 6 rebounds for the Lady Burghers who also got 8 points from Carmyn Fruda.  With the win, Warrensburg improved to 6-3 on the season.  
 
Cambridge was led by Emily DeSouza who finished with 11 points.  Lexi Pedersen contributed 5 points and Vanessa Robinson finished with 4 for Cambridge.

Fonda-Fultonville delivered a commanding performance at The Bill Higgins Holiday Classic, rolling past Cohoes 71–43.

Fonda took control early, jumping out to a 17–11 lead after the first quarter before completely swinging the momentum in the second. A stifling defensive effort and efficient shooting fueled a dominant 22–7 second quarter that sent Fonda-Fultonville into halftime with a comfortable 39–18 advantage.

Fonda-Fultonville continued to pour it on after the break, outscoring Cohoes 21–11 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Despite a more competitive fourth quarter, the outcome was never in doubt as the Braves cruised to the 28-point victory.

Riley Wilson led all scorers with a game-high 31 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Wilson also contributed eight rebounds in a strong all-around showing. Nick Myers provided a major boost inside and out, finishing with 18 points, four three-pointers, and a team-high nine rebounds.

Northville pulled away in the second half to secure a convincing 70–51 victory visiting Mayfield.

The Falcons built early momentum with a 17–14 edge after the first quarter and extended the lead before halftime, outscoring Mayfield 22–18 in the second to take a 39–32 advantage into the break. Northville’s defensive pressure intensified after halftime, limiting Mayfield to just seven points in the third quarter while adding nine of its own to maintain control.

Northville put the game away in the fourth quarter with a decisive 22–12 run.

Niko Sevastakis led the way for Northville with a game-high 21 points, while also contributing five rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Braydn Bovee added 17 points and five rebounds, and Landon Fraiser chipped in 15 points. Khy Tran posted a well-rounded performance with 11 points, eight rebounds, nine assists, six steals, and two blocks.

For Mayfield, Collin “Cubby” Roth paced the scoring with 14 points, while Samuel Rossbach followed with 13 points, knocking down three three-pointers. Landon Conyne added 12 points.

In the final game of the first round of the Argyle Showcase Tournament, Warrensburg beat Argyle 46-36 in Overtime.   Warrensburg was down by 9 points with 2:30 to play before forcing overtime.   Haley Morse hit a 3 pointer with 32 seconds left in the game to tie it up, 35-35.   In overtime, Warrensburg took control by outscoring  Argyle 11-1 in the extra period.  
 
Avah FIorentino led all scorers with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Warrensburg.  Caitlin O'Donnell finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds and played a very good defensive game for the Lady Burghers.  Haley Morse also finished with 10 points and Genna Lehocki had 8 for Warrensburg.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo used a fast start and balanced scoring to earn a 52-27 win over Northville on Monday night in a girls basketball matchup.

The Bulldogs set the tone early, jumping out to an 18-8 lead in the opening quarter and never looking back. Northville struggled to find consistent offense in the second period, managing just two points, as Berne-Knox-Westerlo extended its advantage to 28-10 at halftime. The home team continued to control play in the third quarter, outscoring Northville 13-5 to put the game firmly out of reach.

Northville showed some late fight in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 points, but the Bulldogs matched the effort to comfortably close out the victory.

Bella Daguillo and Olivia Kirker led Berne-Knox-Westerlo with 14 points apiece. Annie Lendrum and Molly Shaver each added nine points, providing steady support as the Bulldogs spread the scoring across the lineup.

Northville was paced by Keira Mackey, who finished with 15 points, while Leah Valovic added seven. Despite solid defensive effort and rebounding from several players, Northville was unable to overcome its slow offensive start.

The two teams traded leads through the first half, with Scotia-Glenville holding a slim 33-23 advantage at the break behind steady outside shooting. Glens Falls stayed within reach early, then turned the momentum decisively after halftime.

The turning point came in the third quarter, when Glens Falls erupted for 26 points while holding Scotia-Glenville to just nine. The surge flipped a 10-point halftime deficit into a commanding lead, as the home team’s offense found its rhythm and the defense tightened.

Glens Falls continued to build on that advantage in the fourth quarter, outscoring Scotia-Glenville 20-12 to seal the win.

Holly Hirsch led Glens Falls with 18 points, while Ashlyn Wiggins added 16. Arya Viger contributed 14 points, including three 3-pointers, and the balanced scoring helped Glens Falls maintain pressure throughout the second half.

Fonda-Fultonville used a balanced scoring attack to pull away from Mechanicville for a 60-51 boys basketball victory at Siena College in the Coaches vs. Cancer showcase.

Fonda set the tone early, jumping out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter. Mechanicville responded in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to five at halftime, 28-23, as the Red Raiders found their rhythm offensively.

Fonda-Fultonville regained control after the break, matching Mechanicville basket for basket in the third quarter before extending the margin in the final eight minutes. The Braves outscored the Red Raiders 17-14 in the fourth quarter, using timely shooting and second-chance opportunities to seal the win.

Riley Wilson led all scorers with 27 points for Fonda-Fultonville and added a dominant performance on the boards with 13 rebounds. Nick Myers chipped in 17 points, while Brayden Wassink contributed seven points. The Braves knocked down four three-pointers and were efficient at the free-throw line, converting 10 of 13 attempts.

Shenendehowa put together a strong all-around performance Friday night, pulling away for a 60-45 victory over Ballston Spa in a girls basketball matchup.

The game was tight early, with Shenendehowa holding a slim 9-7 lead after the opening quarter. The Plainsmen found their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Ballston Spa 24-15 to build a 33-22 advantage at the break. Mayfield erupted for 24 points in the third quarter while holding Northville to just four. The run turned a close contest into a double-digit advantage and proved to be the difference.

Brianna Iannuzzi led all scorers with 26 points for Mayfield, knocking down four three-pointers and adding eight steals on the defensive end. Abigail Powers followed with 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Aubrey Byrns chipped in nine points from beyond the arc. Mayfield’s defensive pressure forced turnovers and fueled the pivotal third-quarter run.

Northville was led by Izzy Colon, who finished with 22 points, seven assists, and eight free throws. Keira Mackey added 16 points, and Leah Valovic contributed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. JJ Rose and Jack Capron both led the Eagles with 16 points each. Ayden Fall added nine points and Logan Kapusta chipped in with eight points.

Niskayuna beat cross town rival Schenectady 61-27. The Patriots jumped out to a 9-8 lead after the first quarter but Niskayuna bounced back to take a 24-16 lead into intermission. Niskayuna's stiff defense held Schenectady to 11 second half points.

Brady Olsen led Niskayna with 18 points, Will Dicaprio added 15, Jake McDonald 9.

Armel Chutman was the leading scorer for Schenectady with 9 points, Camauri Harris netted 7 points.

Saratoga Springs pulls away for road win at Queensbury

Saratoga Springs used a strong first half to build a commanding lead and cruised to a 54-34 victory over Queensbury in a girls basketball matchup on December 16.

The Blue Streaks set the tone early, jumping out to a 17-7 advantage in the opening quarter and extending the margin to 35-15 by halftime. Queensbury showed signs of life in the third quarter, outscoring Saratoga Springs 13-11, but the visitors quickly regained control and closed the game with an 8-6 fourth quarter.

Evelyn Pilkington led Saratoga Springs with a dominant performance, scoring 26 points while knocking down four three-pointers. The scoring was balanced behind her, with Riley Kennedy, Jordan Gennoy, and Abby Tellstone each contributing five points. 

Queensbury was paced by Madelynn Murray, who finished with 11 points, including a three-pointer. Kady Duffy added 10 points, while Emily Sassaman chipped in four.

The Warriors came out aggressive, scoring 20 points in the opening quarter to take control early. LaSalle stayed competitive defensively, but Mohonasen continued to widen the gap, leading 27-15 at halftime. A strong third quarter, highlighted by balanced scoring and defensive pressure, put the game out of reach as Mohonasen extended the margin to 45-26 heading into the final period.

Maddie Swint led all scorers with 21 points, Emma Mullen added 10 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, while Payton Whipple chipped in nine points and was perfect from the free-throw line. Lucy Musto contributed eight points, and Kate LeClerc added four as Mohonasen spread the scoring across the lineup.

LaSalle was led by Kate Gilooly, who scored 11 points and went 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. Moira Galuski added eight points, while Anna Tedesco and Brianna Gross chipped in four and two points, respectively.

Colonie stayed within striking distance early, then began to take control after the break, outscoring Shenendehowa 15-11 in the third quarter to seize momentum.

The host Raiders continued to build on that edge in the fourth, holding Shenendehowa to 11 points while adding 17 of their own to secure the win.

Olivia Hoffman led all scorers with 26 points for Colonie, knocking down three three-pointers and finishing efficiently at the free-throw line. Ella Trimarchi added 11 points, while Aliyah Pearson chipped in nine. The Blue Bison set the tone immediately, jumping out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter and never allowing Guilderland to find any offensive rhythm. Shaker continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, outscoring the Dutchmen 20-6 to take a commanding 43-11 advantage into halftime.

Guilderland showed more offensive balance after the break, scoring 10 points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth, but Shaker matched the effort and maintained control throughout. The hosts added 18 points in the third and 14 more in the final quarter to cruise to the victory.

Shaker received scoring contributions up and down the lineup. Malia Jackson led the way with 12 points, while Sofia Lanni and Aailay Powell each added 11. Jayla Geter finished with nine points, and Noli Ceccucci chipped in eight. Peyton Hoblock contributed eight points, helping Shaker’s balanced attack.

For Guilderland, Aileana Engelson led the team with 11 points, including three three-pointers. Christina Williams added 10 points, while Emily Bigness scored six.

Queensbury erased an early double-digit deficit and pulled away in the second half to defeat Hudson Falls 53-43 in a Foothills Council boys basketball matchup.

Hudson Falls came out firing, holding Queensbury to just three points in the opening quarter while building a 16-3 advantage. The Tigers looked poised to take control, but foul trouble in the second quarter slowed their momentum and prevented them from extending the lead. Queensbury capitalized by scoring 23 points in the period to trail 29-26 at halftime.

The second half belonged to Queensbury’s defense, which limited Hudson Falls to 14 total points over the final two quarters. The Spartans went to the stripe 31 times in the game, a key factor in widening the gap down the stretch.

Williams led all scorers with 23 points for Queensbury, providing a steady offensive presence throughout the comeback.

Hudson Falls was paced by Brady Smith, who turned in a strong all-around performance with 21 points and 18 rebounds.

Burnt Hills–Ballston Lake responded with its best stretch in the third quarter, scoring 20 points behind a strong push from Taniyah Monforte and Emma Larson to trim the margin. Columbia answered every run, however, taking a 51-42 lead into the final period.

Columbia closed the game decisively in the fourth quarter, holding Burnt Hills–Ballston Lake to just four points while adding 17 of its own to seal the win.

Sarah Rainville led all scorers with 29 points. Madelyn Marra added 20 points, including a pair of three-pointers, while Madison Ficara chipped in 11 points to round out a strong offensive showing.

Burnt Hills–Ballston Lake was led by Monforte’s 19 points, with Larson contributing 13. Alex Bicknell added eight points, including two three-pointers, but the Spartans were unable to keep pace down the stretch as Columbia pulled away late.

Glens Falls used a fast start and balanced scoring to pull away from Amsterdam for a 75-58 victory in a girls basketball matchup on December 15.

The Black Bears jumped out early, racing to a 26-9 lead in the opening quarter as they pushed the pace and converted on both ends of the floor. Amsterdam settled in during the second quarter, outscoring Glens Falls 15-9 to cut into the deficit before halftime, but the early surge proved difficult to overcome.

Glens Falls regained momentum after the break, posting 21 points in the third quarter to extend its lead to 56-40. Amsterdam continued to battle in the fourth quarter behind a strong offensive effort, but the Black Bears matched the scoring down the stretch to maintain control.

Holly Hirsch led Glens Falls with 23 points, connecting from beyond the arc and going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. Arya Viger added 21 points, while Allie Dickinson contributed 13 points, including three three-pointers, to round out a balanced attack.

Northville pulled away in the second half to secure a 73-47 boys basketball victory over Hartford on December 15.

The Falcons and Indians traded baskets early, with Hartford holding close through the opening quarter as Northville carried a slim 16-15 edge. Hartford struggled to find offense in the second quarter, however, managing just five points as Northville’s defense tightened and helped build a 31-20 lead at the break.

Northville took full control after halftime, outscoring Hartford 20-15 in the third quarter and then closing the game with a 22-point fourth period. The Falcons’ balanced scoring and pressure defense proved too much down the stretch, steadily extending the margin.

Niko Sevastakis led all scorers with 35 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding three assists and five steals. Braydn Bovee followed with 16 points, eight rebounds, and five steals, while Khy Tran chipped in seven points and eight assists to direct the offense.

Hartford was paced by Daniel Peterson, who scored 15 points, and Aiden Swezey, who added 11. Despite a competitive start, the Indians were unable to keep pace with Northville’s second-half surge.

Bethlehem pulled away early and never looked back in a 54-33 girls basketball victory over Guilderland on December 12.

The Eagles set the tone in the opening quarter, building an 11-8 lead, then stretched the margin with a strong second quarter to take a 30-16 advantage into halftime. Bethlehem continued to control the pace in the third quarter and closed out the win with a steady final period.

Lily Greisbach led all scorers with 19 points for Bethlehem, knocking down seven field goals and a three-pointer. Elizabeth Kearney provided a balanced scoring effort with 13 points, including two three-pointers and five free throws, while Laynie Shersky added 10 points. Bethlehem’s balanced offense and defensive pressure kept Guilderland from finding consistent scoring opportunities.

Guilderland was paced by Christina Williams, who scored 12 points, all coming from beyond the arc. Cameron Kile chipped in six points, and Leah Lehara added six.

The Eagles advance to the championship game tomorrow night to play Saratoga Catholic in the Mike Beson Memorial Tournament in Saratoga.

Loudonville Christian held a modest 4-point edge heading into the fourth period.
 
Loudonville Christian finished the game in splendid fashion as they overshadowed the Cougars by 7-points in crunch time.

The Eagles managed to be ahead at all quarter stoppage by plus 5, 7, 4, & 11.
