Greenwich knocked off Mayfield 62-35 to advance to the Class C Championship game on Sunday vs Stillwater.

  

 

 

(Glens Falls)

Berne-Knox-Westerlo, the defending New York State Class C champions, repeated as sectional champions, pulling away in the second half to defeat Stillwater 54-33 at Harding Mazzotti Arena in Glens Falls.

The teams battled evenly early, with both sides scoring 15 points in the opening quarter. BKW began to gain control in the second, outscoring the Warriors 21-10 to take a 36-25 lead into halftime.

Defense took over after the break.

The Bulldogs suffocated Stillwater’s offense in the third quarter, holding the Warriors to just one point while pushing the lead to double digits. BKW continued to control the game in the fourth, closing out the 21-point victory to secure the program’s second straight Section 2 title.

Dayne Coates paced the offense with 16 points. Class C tournament MVP Shake Kirker added 13 points and 11 rebounds, anchoring a strong inside presence, while Jayden Buie added 14, knocked down four three-pointers.

Stillwater was led by Rocco Schneller, who finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Tye Morris added seven points, while Mason Wagner chipped in six. Stillwater, the #7 seed coming into the tournament, had a great run to the finals.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo will now turn its attention to the state tournament as the Bulldogs look to defend their state crown.

Averill Park took care of business vs Binghamton 53-33 with Taylor Holohan (14 points) and Kayleigh Ahern (12 points) leading the way.
 
Bethlehem beat Cicero North Syracuse 75-67. Paige Davenport netted 23 points and Kelsey vonWeldel added 16 points.

(East Greenbush)

Columbia took the loss vs. Albany Academy 54-42, in a matchup of two of the top girls' teams in the area. 

The Bears had great energy right from the tip off and raced out to a 13-2 lead after the first quarter. They held the Blue Devils without a made field goal in the period.

Columbia started to get things going in the second quarter as they outscored Albany Academy 13-12, but still trailed 25-15 at the half.
 
The Bears maximized their play in the third quarter and outscored Columbia by 7 points.

Columbia dug in and fought back in the final quarter but their early deficit hurt any chance of a comeback.

Albany Academy were on top at all frame finishes by advantages of 11, 10, 17, & 12.

The Bears had three shooting stars in double figure scoring. Eva Gitto was an offensive spark plug for the Bears with 14 points. Alex Leonard racked up 12 points. Morgan Vien poured in 10 points. Bella Vincent tallied 8 points.
The Bears produced 9 trey balls.
Eva Gitto nailed 3 three-pointers.

Columbia had a triplet in double figure scoring. Kendyl Ouimette and Ella Hebler led the Blue Devils with 12 points each.  Alivia Landy bagged 10 points.
Columbia buried 4 trifectas.
